Good day, I'm new here and need some help.
Long story short, kind of.
My GF kid's bought a Yamaha BW's 2002 last summer without much parental supervision or inspection (Zuma for the rest of the world I think). This thing was modified into BW R with a Polini evo 3 horizontal (that little thing is stupid fast, too fast for small tire for me IMO) from previous owner. I ran the serial number on Yamaha web site and tells me this is an actual Yamaha BW's 2002.
Fast fwd, last summer, the kid complained about the steering was rocking forth and back with front brake applied. My first thought was the nuts were loosing on the steering neck, so used my spanner wrench and adjusted them as per SM(service manual). Fast fwd came back loose again after not too long ok WTF?
I did recheck the adjustment and retighten the neck. Couple weeks after came back and the scooter did not want to start. Checked basic stuff fire, fuel air to find out the compression was 30 psi end of the season, was 130 for a good time prior. Fall/winter was coming, so stored the scooter. Replaced piston with new ring no problem there easy to do compare my Harley.
I Just took apart the steering triple tee to find out there was no bearing race at the bottom of the neck frame!!! ok WTF again!
So went to Yamaha parts web site entered the serial number again and ordered the correct the race part number B6E-23412-00 as per www, doesn't fit! the OD of the race (48mm) is the exact same OD of the neck (48mm) ID is 43mm??? The smaller top bearing race would fit in the neck but too small for the bottom of triple tee shaft or to match the lower bearing! I'm just puzzled any idea?? No way to talk to previous owner, thank you.
