Over abundance of caution, 2017 Zuma FX, front brake pad change, got down to it and seems the pad retaining bolt is WAYYYY tighter than the 9.4 ftlb the SM calls for. Just wanted to ask, this IS NOT a reverse thread right? Hard to get too Fing 4mm lol Thanks in advance for advice. Really need to change these

If it's the first pad change. My Aerox was the same. From the factory Yamaha had used an unbelievable amount of thread locker on the bolts. Not sure what type of caliper you have, but never seen any type that wasn't a normal thread.

Not sure what type of caliper you have, but never seen any type that wasn't a normal thread. Stock caliper, may well be first change dunno but shes at 21,690 miles... thinking not first change. Did you take the whole caliper off or just the retaining bolt and change the pads with it on the rotor?

I always take the whole caliper off. You can then clean and inspect it properly. If it has a threaded pin to hold the brake pads in. You need to loosen that before taking the caliper off
