Hey all,
Looking for some help, exhausted my limited knowledge here. Pulled my wifes old E-Ton Beamer II out of the barn after sitting for ~8 years for 'not running'. After fixing the obviously broken vacuum line for the fuel tank petcock and giving it a shot of starting fluid it fired right up. After putting a fresh tank of gas in it it ran great for about 6 months. After that time it started only starting with starting fluid. REFUSED to fire off without it regardless of ambient temps. After it did start, it ran just fine, didn't die or stutter, had plenty of power. So I started working that issue. Put a new sparkplug in and pulled the carb off and cleaned it out, checked all the jets, etc. Put it back on and no improvement, and started to lose top end power. Played with the air/fuel adjustments for awhile until I finally just ordered a new ebay carb. After that swap it still refused to start and had no power after 1/2 throttle. Would now run for a minute or two after starting fluid and then die. So I dropped it of with my Motorcycle mechanic and he got it running after a day, but I couldn't get him to tell me exactly what was wrong. Fired off on its own and drove it up the ramp into my truck.
Didn't use it for a month, but was able to drive it a couple days with no issues right away. Then it was back to starting with only starting fluid and would only run with half choke, and was stalling after 3/4 throttle.
So I starting checking things again. Confirmed spark (at idle), bypassed the petcock and fuel filter, took the exhaust off and blew air through it. Still won't cold start without starting fluid. Swapped on another new (amazon) carb. No change. Adjusted the throttle needle up a notch. Was able to tune it in with the mixture screw to a decent idle but it still falls on its face at half throttle an died at WOT. Running clean new fuel. CVT is full of fluid. Has 3/4 tank of oil. Tank isnt rusty, fuel filter didn't have any particles in it when I pulled it and the original carb wasn't blocked up when I took that off. Not sure what to try next.
Thanks!
