Does my vino have a rev limiter on the cdi?

Not on the CDI. There may be a sleeve on the variator bushing though. Zino will know for sure.

There is a sleeve in the variator & a restriction in the head pipe if they haven’t been removed.

No rev limiter on the vino 2 stroke cdi Your rpms are being held down by the restrictive pipe . The port Timing of the stock bore also put a cap on rpms .
When you upgrade the pipe and bore you can spin onthe stock cdi beyond 10k rpms

Hey Zino, my vino is much like yours, malossi bbk, malossi wild loin, stock varitor, 6 gram , malossi belt, fly clutch, white pulley spring, tried yellow, green clutch springs, tried white and yellow. stock carb. Goes 49-50 BUT, doesn't hit hard until 30 mph. You think a multi-varitor would help get some take off speed?

It sounds like you are only getting into the Power band when the variator is maxed out. Which could mean the weights are too heavy.

My Vino will wheelie on take off if I crack the throttle wide open and lean back
The stock variator works best with stock belt if you used a aftermarket belt you may be starting in second gear The malossi variator is a big improvement for shifting and top end compared to the stock variator .
Do you have a rpm gauge ? If you do track it like this Roll slow on the throttle where does the scoot start pushing you forward . I like mine above 5 k rpms (I run medium springs stock clutch)
Where does the rpm gauge jump to when you hit the throttle wide open I like it in the 8 -9 k range .

I have a pretty much identical build as well just a top performance kit. I do have a multivar & while mine doesn’t wheelie on takeoff it shoots off the line pretty fast as well.

The port Timing on the stock cylinder is not a great match for your pipe . That pipes wants to rev higher than the cylinder is designed for What weights do you have in the variator most pipes require much lighter weights

WoW, Thanks Zino, who thought putting on my old belt would help so much. You are the Vino whisperer. Put the stock belt on and real picks up speed quicker. Now I can start tuning the clutch springs/ contra spring for better take off. Before changes didn’t real seem to help. Might get the Multi Var. in future, but for now I’m good, saved me $100. Thanks again

The white contra is the most you will need . I only have used the yellow with alot higher rpm and horsepower set up to combat belt slip Its best to take the lightest contra you can get away with for long term wear and tear on your transmission. I actually just run stock zuma contras on the vinos they are stiffer than the vinos and little less than a white contra spring .
The yellow clutch springs would be my first choice the white engage just a little lower rpm . I kinda like the snappier take off of engaging in the meat of the power band when possible others like to start at the beggining of the power band for a smoother take off
When you get the multi var you can slap that malossi belt back on or use the stock belt
