2003 yamaha zuma just installed a bbk and now every 30-40 seconds it shuts off like it locked up but i go to start it and it starts right up and the rear tire locks up when you ride it and it dies but when it’s idling it’s just fine revving it’s fine too i’m thinking it’s cvt but i don’t know anybody have any idea what could be going on

I’d say you’re soft seizing it. Did you rejet for the new cylinder? Do you have a temp guage? You need to stop running it. Your name might be fitting because you’re definitely destroying it lol.

Your name might be fitting because you’re definitely destroying it lol. had a 85 in it put a 95 in it added more oil to the tank just incase my injection wasn’t up to par, it later locked up i took the head off and shook the cylinder and it came loose idk if it’s my exhaust angle that might be moving the cylinder or maybe my rings got caught but there’s not much damage on the cylinder and piston no finger nail sticking in any marks. i am using stock spark plug and head maybe today i might be working on it and getting a better spark plug, what spark plug should i get? my pipe is also broke in 2 so i could potentially take the back half off and just have the header there i know it’s gonna be screaming but i will have to see if it makes a difference. And i also have a temp gauge but yet to cut fins out of my head to fit it but before i run it again i’m gonna get the temp gauge on there and that spark plug, also when i was running it, it didn’t seem to have much power added i am using stock airbox. first time i rode it, it got to 10,500 and shut off like it locked up i was only going 37 then after that i was just trying to cruise to break it in maybe idk at first i thought it was something in the cvt but it is definitely the bbk

When you installed the rings did you make sure they were lined up with the retaining pins? Also, if you ever took your oil pump out, or drained the oil tank completely you have to make sure to bleed the air out of the pump. My buddy had a soft seize after draining his oil tank and not bleeding it (but he also didn't add any oil to the tank). A lot of 70cc kits also require a long reach spark plug such as a BR8ES, but I don't see why that would lock up the engine using a shorter one, I'd assume you'd just get incomplete combustion and foul the plug

take picture of the top of the piston You can tell alot of whats going on by the color of the piston and if you have any piston wash. You want to see some silver by each transfer If it is all black that means you were cooking at a high tempature
Sounds like you are soft seizing . Could be an air leak or exhaust leak Do a exhaust leak test with it idling take a wet rag and plug the exhaust if it kills quick you are sealed up there if it keeps running you have a leak
Adding oil to the tank has to be measured adding oil actually leans you out You are running alot of rpms for very low speed Lean engines push high rpms with no power
