I can't find a wiring diagram for a 3 wire LED light. Help.

I am doing an LED headlight build. Sounds easy as there should be wiring diagrams all over the place, right? Nope. 

I CANNOT find a single wiring diagram online for a headlight that has a low beam and high beam wire, for a three way switch into a 5 pin relay. I can find millions of diagrams for dual headlights or dual fog lights to turn on at the same time, but I cannot find ANYTHING for what I have. 

LED light with three wires 12v (Ground, High beam, low beam)
Three way switch 12v ( Ground, pos #1 and pos #2)
5 Pin relay (30, 85, 86, 87, 87a)
Power source 12v (Ground, positive)

The three way switch works as I tested the wires individually to turn the light on/off. The light works and so does the power source. I've been using this setup for awhile but I need to be able to toggle between low beam and high beam because in traffic the high beam is too bright. 

This is the wiring diagram I used (attached) and here it is in text form. When I used this wiring diagram, it powered on the light but when I toggled between high beam/low beam/off, it just stayed on. Please help me.

1. Connect the positive wire from the power source to the "30" pin of the 5-pin relay.



2. Connect the positive wire from the low beam of the headlight to the "87" pin of the 5-pin relay.



3. Connect the positive wire from the high beam of the headlight to the "87a" pin of the 5-pin relay.



4. Connect one of the positive wires from the 3-way switch to the "86" pin of the 5-pin relay.



5. Connect the other positive wire from the 3-way switch to the "85" pin of the 5-pin relay.



6. Connect the ground wire from the power source to the ground (negative) terminal of the headlight.



7. Connect the ground wire from the 3-way switch to the ground (negative) terminal of the headlight.

You should not need a relay with an LED headlight if the switch will handle a normal headlight current. Just wire the switch common to +12V and the other leads to high and low on the headlight. Of course the ground on the headlight connects to ground on the scoot frame.

I don't think that will work. I didn't think I needed a relay either but from what I was reading it would be the only way to kill the power on the high beam or low beam.

Let's remove the ground wires from the headlight, switch and power source. 

Headlight has two wires
Switch has two wires
Power source has one wire

If I connect the high beam/low beam to the two wires coming out of the switch. Where does the power wire fit in this? I can connect it to either the high beam wires or the low beam wires.

What type and year scoot do you have? A 50cc scooter normally has the headlight on whenever the engine is running since it is powered from the stator (usually the yellow wire). The headlight is always on for safety and also acts as a load on the regulator circuit so do not turn it OFF. The wiring I specified will work.
