Recently had some trouble with my scoot (build thread here: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/31370/2004-vento-triton-revival) where it would start to bog and cut out when the engine got warm/after 5 or so minutes of riding. In an effort to troubleshoot, among other things, I purchased a new CDI. It turned out to be NOT a CDI that was needed, but the coil. I was curious if the CDI would offer any improved performance so when it came in, and after I had already swapped the coil and gotten the scoot running well, I figured I'd slap on the new CDI and see how it ran. The CDI in question was listed as a Progress Racing AC CDI, 50cc 2t 1PE40QMB Yamaha Minarelli JOG Chinese Scooter FS on ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/185902019161This thing wreaks of cheap, Chinese marketing and I'll admit, purchasing this was not the most informed decision other than it was listed for the type of scoot and engine I have and that from what I've read, often times the OEM units perform best. I am almost sure that when I hooked it up, I did not have the correct wiring based on how it ran. Low RPM, the scooter runs normal. But, when trying to gain any speed or hitting the mid-upper range of the power band the scooter runs horribly. The CDI has a connector with green and yellow wires that mates fine to the original plug on the bike but those colors do not match. There are also 3 other wires, (red, black and white) that don't necessarily match the other three wires on the bike. Not too sure what's going on, but figured I'd see if anyone here has any experience. I'll update this post with some pictures of my own shortly.

Here is a picture of the CDI above and how I had assumed it might be connected to the Vento's stock wiring. You can see how the connector with yellow and green wires connects to the Vento's connector. Also from the Progress racing CDI comes black, red and white wires. I had these connected to the Vento's green, blue w/white stripe, and black with red stripe.

Thanks, I was actually taking a look at that earlier and the zuma wiring does not match that of the Vento's so no dice there. If I knew how to test each of the wires to see which is which I would but not really sure about that. I thought about doing a little trial and error by changing wires out and seeing how it runs but I don't want to fry the thing! For now I guess the stock CDI will do unless anyone else has done this to a Triton or CPI or the like.
