Hi all!
Sorry if this doesn’t make sense. I have no knowledge really on scooter engines. I found a Honda Ruckus near me with a GY6 swap. Seller says they used the rolling wrenches kit.
Seller states:
“Engine is still pretty new but it is not running currently. Changed the stator out a month or two ago for a spare I had and got it running again and about a week later wouldn’t start again. Pretty sure the flywheel is eating through the stator wires. “
Does this sound like an easy fix? Any ideas on what else could be causing the stator to go bad?

If the stator wires are getting hit by the flywheel, it's not routed correctly. But if you are looking at buying it make sure that it isn't something else more expensive. Perhaps "flywheel is eating through the stator wires." Is the new, " just needs a carb clean! "

once I had a moped that the bearing failed and the flywheel magnet hit the stator and broke the magnet off the flywheel. check that your flywheel is spinning but doesn't have loose play just like you would diagnose the wheel on your car. there is a great video tutorial on youtube from labcoatpaul that, if you follow it, and your stator passes all the testing, I don't think you have anything wrong with your stator. obviously, do a thorough visual inspection.

I’ll message the seller for more answers

Which stator wires? The ones leading out to the customers? The wires that form the windings?
Actually I don't care. If the flywheel contacts the stator, then they may not be compatible. Especially on a Honda unless you use Honda parts. If now a GY6, then you need generic GY6 parts, not Honda parts. Annnddd... I would not mix Honda flywheel with GY stator or vice versa. I would not expect them to fit properly. The wires that lead out to the regulator/rectifier should be routed so they do not get de-insulated. Ditto the CDI power winding, and the CDI 'fire' wires. Could be someone is trying to unload a basket O' worms. Price should reflect the weight and size of the problem list. tom

Thanks for the response everyone! I messaged the seller with a bunch of questions and asking for new pics and they went ghost. Seems like I dodged a bullet unless they respond later.

Not sure on the 50cc but on the 150 theres supposed to be a little steel plate that is maybe 3” is so long, 2 holes-6mm one on each end, and it’s that gold color plating like you see on some carb parts, hardware etc, maybe some kinda cadmium plating or whatever, but anyway, once the stator is bolted to the case that little “strap/bracket” piece then bolts over the wires to keep the wires from getting rubbed by the flywheel/magneto/rotor. If it’s not there that could be the entire problem why it’s eating the wires!
