In all of the years that I've rode, I've never owned riding pants. I've ordered pants 2 and 3 pairs at a time before and returned everything that I've ever bought. Nothing ever fit. I didn't really want overpants because I thought they'd be quite warm in the summer.
My friend with a sport bike wears Icon pants that look like cargo pants basically. He said he has worn them for something like 8-10 years because he also has a hard time finding something that fits well, and he's a much more average build than I am. Apparently whatever the model was that he had, they discontinued. Well, they brought them back and he got a pair and said they fit basically like the old ones. They're called Icon Superduty 3 pants.
There are no reviews online, or at least not when I ordered, so I asked him and he said he ordered his waist size just like he was buying any other pants and the waist is a little big, but otherwise they fit well. I did the same, expecting to have to return these like the rest.
UPS just dropped them off and they fit! The waist is the same for me, a bit large, but nothing that a belt won't easily cure. Otherwise, they're a good fit. Much more like American cut relaxed fit jeans than the low-rise, skinny jean sorta stuff that anything else I've tried has been.
It's not all good. They seem thin, but hopefully the reinforced canvas is better suited to riding than standard jeans. They don't have true armor. They have knee and hip pads by D3O. I'm going to see if there are options for CE armor, but I really don't think so.
They're also expensive... but if you've ever shopped riding pants and riding jeans, you know that's the norm. They were $185 at RevZilla. I usually go with RevZilla for these things because returns have always been easy and not too expensive.
They look grey in the pics to me, but they are indeed black.

No, this is not a paid promotion. I wanted to share this simply because I know I'm not the only one struggling to find riding pants that fit. These wouldn't be my first choice for protection, but at least they are motorcycle pants that fit. If that sounds good to you, check 'em out... and let us know how it goes. Just remember that you're always at risk of a poor fit anyway with riding pants, but maybe the cut in these suits those of us not fitting other stuff a little better.
