This morning around 10am got word that my Stepson’s best friend lost both his parents in a murder suicide. They were separated about 6 months and it was premeditated. He planned the whole thing. Stepson and friend are both 14. It’s a shit situation. I went over to screw the door shut and replace glass where cops forced entry.

That's really terrible. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair. When my grandson was 13 his mum died of cancer. He came to live with us. But someone in his class at school lost both parents in a car crash a couple of weeks later. You probably never quite get over something like that.

Above all, it's awful for the kids to have to deal with. One of my close friends lost both of his parents when he was very young and it affected him his entire life. He never had good adults in his life that cared about him after that and that made him feel like he had little value. So, I hope he has other family that will treat him right and let him know that people still care about him. It will be tough enough with a good support system.
