I've been looking around for a side stand for my Zuma. The center stand came off a while back when it suddenly broke (around where it attached to the underside of the scoot), so I figured a side stand would be the quickest/easiest fix.
I found one possible replacement on ScooterSwapShop but they won't have any more in for a few months. Other than that, I'm not sure what I should be looking for as far as "universal" stands go. There isn't an obvious place on the Zuma where a stand would attach, so I'm not sure what I need. ScooterSwapShop has a video where they say that, for their stand, part of the bottom fairing has to be cut out and then a hole has to be drilled in the frame. I don't have a problem doing any of that, but I wouldn't want to try anything like that without a stand that has been proven to work.
Any ideas? Is there anything quick and dirty I can do that will enable me to, say, park in a good old-fashioned parking spot rather than lean my scoot up against the nearest dumpster?

Quick and dirty would be a stand meant for a cycle, but one designed for your scoot is best,I had one on my cs jog it worked a treat.
Geoff a quick search shows Euroscooters listing one for BWS/Zuma for £20 shipping is unknown ,it appears bolt on with no cutting

geoffh That's a tough one. Website doesn't agree with my computer. Getting something into my shopping cart was difficult and I'm unable to make an account. How do these universal stands work? All the pictures appear to just have a bracket with a hole in it. If that's the case and mounting a side stand isn't really all that complicated and is just a matter of fixing it in such a way that it doesn't move when used, then I'd be willing to take the leap and just buy something that looks reliable.

Have a look at the frame. I'm not familiar with the Zuma. But the Yamaha aerox, BWS, and Jog all had a place to mount one to. They even have it marked inside the fairing where to cut. I fitted a universal one to my wife's Aprilia. It bolted to the frame. I had to make a plate for one the clamp to mount to. It wasn't that hard because there were quite a few unused holes on the frame.

So no mounting bracket with that then?

will have to cross that bridge when the stand gets here! But I believe I will try to find a bracket to mount it without drilling a hole in the frame. don't want to compromise the structure of the bike. it arrives here on thursday but will look at frame for a long time before surgery. cut once, measure twice as they say. will update when its on the bike.

So that rectangle there looks pretty unequivocal to me. It seems to line up with that bare section of the frame there. @gooddog I think I'll wait and see how things go for you. If you didn't use a bracket, how exactly would you mount it? @===BOLT=== > | STAND | > ( FRAME ) > [NUT] Like so, where the stand is just bolted to the side of the frame? I assume that the bracket would hang down from the frame, so to speak, and you would find some way to totally occupy the space in that fork at the top end of the stand where the bolt goes through?

I cant seem to find much time for this mod. probably will find a fence bracket at the hardware store to attach to the frame and with a little work attach kickstand to that. It's a little on the back burner for now. My brother fell off his bicycle and cracked his ribs so been running errands for him. At least he won't be borrowing my scooters for a while.

@gooddog No sweat. My thoughts go out to your brothers' ribs. Well, I went ahead and bought a universal side stand to help justify the shipping I was paying on some other things. May need some guidance as to how this works, though. Looks like this: Truthfully, I don't have a clue as to how this thing mounts. I thought it might be more obvious once it was in my hands, but that didn't turn out to be the case. On account of that small "fin" thing in the crook of the plate there, it seems as though it mounts to the underside of something rather than over top. Perhaps that flat part of the frame above the section I initially highlighted above? Also, the action on the stand is less forgiving than I expected. Maybe it's because there really is that much difference between opening with a hand and opening with a foot. Can't be sure.

I would probably measure it and see if I could mount it to a U bolt clamped round the frame. If you could it would be the simplest solution. Or mount a plate with a U clamp. Then bolt it to that.

If I see it right, looks like you have one through hole and one pressed dimple? That would require 2 frame holes at a exact distance to match. One for the bolt and one for the dimple to sit in. And in the right angle to make the thing work. If you can find 2 such holes and in the right location, then your golden. Otherwise its modify time

So it took some real rigging up, but she's on. I drilled another hole through the dimple mentioned above and put a u-bolt through them, put it around the frame, and fastened on the small metal plate that came with it. I tightened it all down with just enough thread-space to hold everything on. Then, since the u-bolt was still able to rotate around the frame, I took one of the two springs that came with the stand, put a small hole in the stand's bracket, and hooked it the spring to an eye bolt I installed in place of the fairing bolt that was there originally. That took care of most of the wobble, but there was still a bit of wiggle left due to the fact that the stand itself was loose on its bracket. I took a washer, split it in half, put one half underneath the stand's axis on the front and one over top of it on the back and glued them down. The movement is stiffer now, but I'm hoping a bit of use will wear down the washers some. In other news, my exhaust is leaking what looks like gasket maker perhaps. Or just residual oil? Can anyone confirm?
