I have a question regarding whether it's worth it and what the potential benefits and downsides would be. I'm tempted for upgrading to a 19mm carburetor on my stock Derbi moped. Is this upgrade worthwhile, or should I remain with the 17.5mm carburetor? (I have the 19mm, i would not buy it)

Try it and see, it would be a great learning experience for you in carb tuning. If it does not work out to your satisfaction you can go straight back to your original setup as long as you do not modify anything to make the 19mm carb work. The short answer is no, as long as your stock carb is not restricted and is tuned good you will not notice much of a difference IMO. Which Derbi do you have? Some are restricted from the factory.

In the other hand the HM cre50 comes with a 19mm stock. But I think they also come with a expansion chamber exhaust.

You got a spare carb already, why not? Worst case scenario you can go back to the 17.5, but I doubt , especially if the 19mm carb is a Dell'orto phbg or Polini cp.

I have had the 19mm carburetor on my Derbi for a few weeks now. I'm not complaining because it definitely makes it go faster (the top speed hasn't changed), but it has improved the acceleration. If you configure the carburetor properly, it can enhance the performance even on a 50cc. Occasionally, it tends to choke when I'm in first gear and give it full throttle, but I've gotten used to it.
