hi. here is a quick question. mine is starting to crack where the rear brake caliper mount and its really not worth repairing it. all i could find is brake shoes version of this cover. are they interchangeable ? this part www.partsforscooters.com/151-157-Gearbox_cover_qmb139i guess its compatible since the crankcase is the same for all 139qmb but lenght ( inbetween both shaft ) but there is so much false information on the internet... like they all say honda dio rear pulley, clutch, springs are not the same as 139qmb, but they are. i run a dio NCY pulley and dio clutch springs... and what about the shaft asking because as i said mine is starting to crack, and not worth fixing it at all. my rim is done and impossible at all to find a wheel that fit there, not even looking for 10 11 12 inch ( mine is 13 ) so the only option would be to find a set of common wheels, swap to cable brake, and maybe the shaft if needed.... just for laught, here is my damn extremly rare wheel. 13 inch with rear disc brake is already an exploit, they're mounted using an adapter ( holding the disc ) and 5 VW type lugs.

Good luck with that. Jonway made some that had rear disk brakes. I think I would start prowling the local repair shops to see if any had a carcass in the back that was used for spare parts, and if they were willing to sell.
An alternative that is not too out of reason it to remove the cover and find a TIG welding source. A crack can be repaired, and it would be as good as new. There are multiple videos on YT showing some tech melting parts and forming 'welding rods' that he uses to rebuild broken fins, make Frankenstein parts combining cylinders from one machine with base from another. He was daubing the melted aluminum alloy and building up what he needed, then grinding or machining away that which was excess. As I recall, he melted the brake shoes, and would then flow the melt into very coarse looking lengths he could use like a welding/soldering rod. I do not do TIG, but it should be but a moments work for someone who does. A lot easier to find a welder than the needle in a haystack disk brake plate. IMO. tom

i can do any type of weld. even good ole rod stick welding... its just not worth it at all, since i hate thid extremly weird combo ( 13 inch, rear disc, and disc on left side ). others are all 12 inch read disc and on the right side. and since my wheel is pretty much done, not worth at all. i can get some 12 inch wheel, but disc on right side. not worth repairing it while i know the wheel must be changed soon and its impossible to get one that can fit there. repairing my wheel would be 285 + tx + dropping and collecting it 2h away worth of gas. no go, no thanks. here is like the 12th ads on marketplace for STANDARD combo ( this one is a complete engine for 140 but no front wheel so not an option either, but ive seen some with front wheel ) so as a said, repair is NOT an option, and the reason i asked if it could be swapped. its very hard to find the disc version of this part wow. not sure its true, but ive heard the standard disc version ( disc on the right ) is the standard drum version but with a different wheel setup. the wheel wobble ( all direction..,. up down right left ) and i just noticed 3 days ago its been fixed with j-b weld ( like they put a cutting disc on the wheel for some reason ) under the paint. as i said many time here, this thing is a total horror story.

As said when fixing home A/C units, "It just needs a shot of 22." In that case, referring to R-22, the refrigerant used in home HVAC for years.
Yours may need a shot of 22 also, but in this case, rimfire 22 cal. "Put her out of her misery."
Actually, in your position, I would look for a donor that had good brake setup and wheel to match. The ONLY 13" wheel I saw was on a Jonway that could have been powered by a 150cc engine. I have the link to it somewhere, as of several years ago. It was a 'Victoria' that now resides in Athens, GA, where UGA is, and a co-ed is its main operator. It has seating for two, with pop-out footrests for the passenger. I think 12" are easier to find. If that would meet your requirements, why not. I would take every bit of brake hardware from the handlebars to the rear wheel... A drum from a standard bike might be a bolt on, and you would then need to find a wheel that would work on the output shaft spline. That and all the other brake hardware. Question is the worth of all the parts and effort vs the worth, to you, to keep that bike. Got no clue. tom

thanks. getting a donor is a problem. keep in mind its QUÉBEC here. people are dirt cheap, mostly nobrainer ( selling 2006 bws/zuma in 4 box missing parts no paper half plastic gone for 3800$ CAD, aka 2800 usd ). ive checked one a year ago, the ads said it was in running condition, 2500$, but in reality the engine was locked up and missing the head. and missing the variator and cvt cover. and if i'm stuck with that 2 wheeled nightmare, its because i cant find any at a decent price. id be happy to pay twice what its worth but they're over abused and sells for 3-4 time what they're worth. i did find a donor motor, for 120$, 12 inch wheels, but rear disc. apparently missing the cylinder and head. i dont care its stock 50cc anyway. hate those weirdo setup ( rear disc ) but i prefer that to keeping mine. thing is the seller doesnt have time to answer my message. hard for me to get a transport its 2h away. i have 2 possibility but the seller doesnt read messages so its going nowhere. i could get another one... 5h away, 600$, no wheels and, no cvt ( cover, clutch, variator... ). at this point id prefer having the money to buy a brand new engine ( 600 + tx ) and buy the drum brake hardware. this one is not an option, and doesnt fix my iwheel issue. about the jonway, i have the same exact weird setup. BIG scooter that usually have 125/150cc, and really weird 13 inch wheel with rear disc brake. even weirder, lookign at the generic model ( HT50QT-36 ) half of them came with a 2 stroke 50cc. same year same model. also have popout footpeg and 2 seater. its so weird and unique, in the early day of owning it i refused 2500 cad for it. IMAGINE IF I KNEW IT WAS SUCH A NIGHTMARE BACK THEN !!!

Find a boneyard or the back lot of a shop that works on scooters/motorcycles. Most end up wit customer bikes brought in for estimates that are left as payment for the diagnostic fee. Last time I was in Quebec was about 60 years ago. Chateau Frontenac, a large flat area overlooking the St Lawrence(?) River. Went to Chicoutimi and St Ann De Beaupre. Camped up northerly in August. Woke to frost on the tent. Had a moose wandering through camp as the campers woke up. Returning from my Time Travel Trip now. tom

Returning from my Time Travel Trip now. tom no boneyard here sadly. yup st lawrence river. we also have a mini equivalent of usa route 66, aka route 138. this one is 15 min away from me. it follow the st-lawrence river. its 880 miles long ! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_Route_138we have many ghost story on that road, too. ive seen some strnge shit there myself, near st-anne-de-la-pérade. my brother bought a car on the road and it was a nightmare ( not the car itself unlike my scooter, but what happen with it ). i can tell more about that in another thread. its a story i dont share often but when i do its a pleasure. chateau frontnac.... i went close but never went in. its such a beautifull building tho ! there is a good ghost story about but i dont remember all the details and i cannot find it ( not a widespread story ). it was related to a husband and his wife, and after he died someone posted his heart to her. when she opened the box in front of the courrier, she said " je en veux aps de ce coeur qui n'a su m'aimer de son vivant ". can be translated to something like " i dont want this heart that didnt love me when alive ". anyways... st-anne-de-beaupré is a very nice place. been there many time its not far from where i was living as a kid ( maybe 20 min away ? ). never been to chicoutimi, but i know people living there... the damn good life. chateau frontnac is the place if you want to spend hundred of dollar.
