Hello everyone.
I have a piaggio zip 2015 2 stroke. I had a powel loss problem that wasn't just service so brought it to a mechanic. Apparently my muffler was blocked and they told me I might need a new one but it's probably not worth it because "the engine is worn out" and that was also why the muffles was blocked they said. mechanic couldn't give me an estimate about how much longer it will run.
But it runs really good now, is faster then ever and has only 7000km in it.
I would like to keep riding it for about 2 months (everyday)
Is this a really bad idea? Should I just sell it. Or do you think it should be alright and just clean the muffler again when it starts to slow down?
Thank you so much in advance!

First determine what needs to be replaced before you decide to sell it. A new exhausts are cheap, to me not at all a reason to vet rid of it. From now on run nothing but quality 100% sythetic oil (google 100% synthetic two stroke oil). This oil leaves way less deposits. If it starts good, the engine is healthy.

That's not even 4,500 miles! No way is it worn out. My old air cooled BWS did 24,000 miles on the original cylinder. Like Lucas said use a good oil. It makes a massive difference in a two stroke. One thing I would say though. Is replace the oil pump drive belt. euroscooterparts.co.uk/piaggio-gilera-aprilia-2t-50cc-oil-pump-drive-belt-1.htmlThey are only cheap. But seen so many Piaggio motors fail because of them snapping. But use a different mechanic.

if he's right and you need to address the exhaust issue:
1.buy a new exhaust 2.disassemble the exhaust you have, unclog it and reassemble it. 3.modify the exhaust you have (always my choice)
I would strongly suggest you decarbonize your engine (if it hasn't been). if you don't, you will have to replace a piston and/or cylinder soon.
