My beloved ‘03 yellow was stolen today from a supermarket parking lot. Security cameras show the guy jam a screwdriver or something into the ignition cylinder, get on it and ride off. I was impressed that the police officer that came the scene gave me a ride home and even better called me about an hour later saying they have a line on who the guy is, apparently a thief that struck before so maybe there’s a chance it will be recovered. I’m sick. Bought it new and put almost 22k miles on it. I’ve found two ‘03 yellow Zumas on Marketplace and pretty much resigning myself to build another just like it. Won’t be the same but it’s the next best thing. Be careful out there people

Can't imagine how that feels coming out and the bikes gone. Hopefully it will be recovered at some point. Loads of scooters are stolen here. I always lock mine up with some form of extra security.

Thats a bummer man. Hope it finds its way home for you.
I keep a lock and a heavy piece of chain in my seat bucket, usually not long enough to lock the scoot to something but keeps them from stealing it unless they have a truck to put it in.

Yeah a cable lock would have saved it. I’ve ridden that scoot to that same store so many times; I wish I’d realized that I was pushing my luck. Live and learn.

I've known that feeling too many times. I don't even try to have a pretty vehicle. but they will steal an ugly vehicle too. the better the chain and lock, the better your investment.
hope you get it back. that's happened to me too. more than once. my regrets.

The police found it! The guy broke the front fairing and cut the harness going to the lock cylinder/ignition switch. I assume after drilling the cylinder didn't work as it still wouldn't turn. He figured out to jump the red and brown wires and started it but didn't realize he needed to jump the black & white to ground for it to charge. He did that in the 15 minutes or so I was in the store. He went about 10 miles before the battery died. The police wouldn't give me any more info about where they found it; I have to ask for a copy of the report. The guy at the police station told me they know where to look. I guess Springfield MO is still enough of a small town. I know they try to avoid people getting vigilante justice so I understand. Regardless, kudos to the police department for good work. I definitely will lock it up if I leave it anywhere and I'm going to shop for a motion sensor alarm with a remote. I have a whole set of aftermarket plastics but not crazy about them as the yellow is more of a yellow/orange. Beggars or in this case victims can't be choosey lol.

That's great news. A bit of work will see it back on the road. Over here the police don't want to know about stolen bikes. They just give you a crime number so you can claim on the insurance.
