can you JB weld a crack line in a minarelli aerox crankcase. I believe it was caused by cutting out the cross hatchings for my R/T Oversize kit. it's hard to see the crack, but its in the center from the middle, I could throw some pictures up if needed but its honestly hard to see it.
I was just wondering if jb weld could add some structural support back or just help close the crack?

Highly doubtful it would do anything for you. Post a picture, are you sure it is a crack and not just a line from where the cases were cast? The casting lines on Kymco case sets look just like cracks. If it is indeed a crack the best bet would be to find someone who can weld the crack up properly for you.

Yes you were right, that is a crack. I would have that properly repaired or replace the cases before riding anymore. Lucky you found it before it came apart.

I don’t know how or who could repair it New is certainly your best choice. An expert welder may be able to repair it, however cast aluminum is never easy.

I guess I need to find someone selling minarelli case

Oof sorry for your loss here man...
I have an old Suzuki ltz400 quad that had it's case repaired with JB weld after what looks like the chain slipped off the front sprocket and blew apart the spot where the shift lever mounts. For what it's worth, it has held up and I certainly welcome keeping an eye on it for leaks rather than disassembling the entire thing, splitting the cases and replacing the one half.
Here in your case where it seems more structural in nature, I'd be a bit more concerned. Good reason to go in and freshen up the crank bearings if you're looking at the bright side.
Will you be going back to the over range setup and grinding the new case? I just did this to my '99 zuma and now it has me thinking I really should get the polini torsen arm. That's if it even fits with the Aerox wheels I'm running now.

I am just thinking of if one of the bearings get stuck on the crank, I don't know how to remove them lol

The alloys used in these engines are most likely easily weldable by an experienced welder. But they need preparation. Drill a small hole at the end of the crack to prevent it cracking any further. Carve a groove all the way over the crack for where the weld will be. Clean everything as thoroughly as possible! A little piece of advise: Never ride with the cvt cover off, never! Especially when you have removed some of the ribs to accomodate for the overrange pulley. With these minarelli horizontal engines it's an important integral part of the engine and gives it much of it's strenght and rigidity. A Polini torsen-arm is also something you could consider.

Did you have the two dowel pins fitted? I have seen Piaggio cases snap before. Never Minarelli ones. Though I've here of it happening. For piece of mind, you are doing the right thing replacing them.

I just bought a new Yasuni C16 exhaust and I know you can't use the polini arms without a polini exhaust?
