so I managed to find a whole new crankcase (both halfs) it was from Italy. it appears Germany and Italy are the best place for tuned/custom parts as well, I guess it's much more popular to tune bikes over there compared to the UK. anyways, I will get to work on having it sandblasted...are there any contact points that I need to tell the sandblaster to avoid and or powder coat? will be able to throw in my S6 gear up kit as well without worrying about trying to remove the other stuff.

......... I will get to work on having it sandblasted...are there any contact points that I need to tell the sandblaster to avoid and or powder coat?. I hate to sound like an ass, but if you cannot answer that question yourself, this project is doomed. There are so many places that need to be protected, flanges, bearing areas, seal areas, bolt holes. I would not attempt to have it powder coated, unless you have a very, very, very, very competent powder coater with experience in coating motorcycle cases,.

Don't forget the Dutch 2nd hand scooter parts market... These are sandblasted in terms of sandblasting...what do I need to tell the sandblaster or does it only matter about powder coating specific areas/contact points? can they freely sandblast everything?

I will keep you all updated with pics

Ryan, your grandad would box your ears, oldgeek has 3 likes and a pat on the back in a post above, the mating surfaces and bearing carriers will be damaged at the sandblasters,I can almost feel the crunch as you try to fit the studs in the shiny case.

Geoff is correct, I am cringing also.
Sealing surfaces are problem areas even with virgin parts. Your sandblast operator must be very experienced with sandblasting those parts or find another sandblaster. You may also want to try vapor blasting or other types of media. I am not sure what your powder coater needs.

Sometimes ya gotta learn for yourself. I took a set of vino wheels in to be coated, explicit instructions for them not to sandblast or coat the brake drums. Picked them up and they had coated the drums and used 80grit to remove it from the drums. The brakes never worked right after that, and they rusted back through quickly due to poor prep I guess. 90GTVert sent a set of aluminum Aerox wheels in to be coated, they melted his wheels in a burnout oven meant for steel. Oh yeah anyone can powder coat!

so he has got back to me and said he wouldn't sandblast it. he'd vapour blast, which he said its water and beads. he could do a coat of paint on the exterior but with time it was just come off so he said to just vapour blast it and go from there.

Vapour blasting should leave it looking like new. 👌

Vapor blasting and bead blasting are two different things. At least they were 40 years ago when I routinely had samples prepped for adhesion tests.

Vapour blasting should leave it looking like new. 👌 I recently had a set of 70 yr old engine cases, triple trees and some other miscellanious alu parts vapor blasted. The parts do look like new! And it doesn't take material off of let say around sharp edges, that way you can hit gasket mating surfaces and other delicate area's. It still has some form of blasting media in it so it still needs a good rinse afterwards.
