So the little qmb139 didn’t like the cheap Amazon 50mm kit and the extra compression/squish I gave it by decking the cylinder .015” and promptly took out the head gasket around 200 miles. This only cost me $9.00 for the piece of copper and few hours of my time on the milll and lathe. Only thing I’m leery of is whether the little 7mm head studs can clamp down enough to make it work like it’s supposed to. Guess we will see tommorrow when I get it back together. There’s gonna be a few thousandths wider receiver groove in the head to “accept” the portion of the copper gasket that gets displaced upwards by the o-ring wire. Will machine it tommorrow. As I’m sure some of you guys are aware, this is common practice in drag cars and bikes, so nothing really new.

The copper head gasket is holding great so far! Retorqued it after couple heat cycles. Easy fix!
