having a right mare sorting the jetting with the new carb lol. so far its on a 178 main and seems spot on mid - top but struggling with the idle jet atm. only got a few to play with like - the one that came with the carb is a .33 and it will only start on choke then is really weak when i open the flap, obviously undersized. so i tried a .40 and it's a bit better but will still only start on 1/2 choke. just put a .45 in out of a spare set of firestorm carbs and its loads better, picks up well and ticks over but only on 1/3 choke so last one ive got is a .48 lol. standard carb on these btw is 12mm with a .28 pilot & 65 main think i'll pop the 48 in and take it for a spin to see what it's like under load. also blew the head gasket while testing it so i'll take the head in work with me and mill a groove in it for an o ring instead of the copper one. feels very fast on the road - topped out at the black line on the speedo - not a clue what that is in mph but i'll gps it and make some proper marks on it next time i take it out i reckon it's about 70mph so far

quick road test.... well, a few quick road tests lol - 73mph on my tomtom gets to 60 very quick and 0-40 is almost instant, much faster than before. that's with a different clutch & torque driver.... i swapped to the one from my baotian with stock contrast spring & it's a lot better. seemed like i was wasting 5000rpm before. need to experiment with some heavier rollers next & might step the main jet to 180 as it still feels like it's gasping over 70. on the chop it's nice & dark biscuit colour which is about as good as i'll get i think seeing as it's currently on 20:1 for a tankfull or 2. got a good selection of jets up to 230's but hope i dont have to go that big lol! i dont think itll go any quicker until i've got the new exhaust on & get it revving a bit higher - the leovince TT that's on it peaks at 8500 so maybe it's that whats making it run out of steam?

WoW!! 73mph with that setup is amazing man! VERY impressed! You should be tuning for a big time raceteam. Congrats!

Great stuff. You must be some tuner cause I'd never expect that kinda speed from what you've got. Nice work.

still got a bit to go yet - had a few soft seizes at high rpm. i reckon the piston to bore clearance is a bit too tight so i might hone another thou off it. all im bothered about is if i get a 4 point seize at bdc it could break the very thin spigot off and wreck the motor lol, it's only 2.5mm thick took it back out with a 180 main jet and it was a bit slower top end & starting to bog but tbh i think i'll leave it and see how it goes on 40:1 it'll help keep the speed down while i run it in a bit! used 'track my ride' before on my fone and the average speed was 54mph, topping at 68. still respectable! m8's bobber is coming along as well but he wont let me near the motor - reckons he's got a few secrets in there doesnt want me to see lol  difference is he's paid a fortune to get the motor tuned, mine's oldschool grinder & files! another mate is doing a suzuki ap50 (scoot not geared) and reckons thats a fast one, 60mph+ malossi full circle crank, 70cc, stage 6 induction, 19mm carb etc - should be an interesting first group ride lol

defo!!! ive got a drift170hd & mates got a gopro so will be plenty of vid! also that 'trackmyride' app, it says i can upload the route to google maps or youtube - only thing is it shows gps coordinates, speeds and times so could potentially be quite incriminating lol. part of the fun of riding a scoot is that you can hoon around all day without really getting in trouble, but as usual i cant leave anything alone and now have yet another beast that could quite easily get me a ban lol. yesterday on my sp1 i managed to get just 25 miles before being handed a bunch of tickets. cautioned for small number plate, not displaying a tax disc, chain lube on the sidewall, no baffles and 103mph in a 70 lol. think i did well to ride away with just cautions and a £30 fine!
