I bought these two TGB 101s's that had been in a garage since 2005. The have around 140 miles each and are in mint conditions. I've started working on getting them in running order. I got my yellow one running after cleaning out the gas tank, cleaning all hoses and the fuel pump. It will rev up with no interruption when working the throttle, but when riding it it runs great up until half throttle, after that there's nothing. My question: is there a know restriction on this model? My next step is to clean the carb to see if that fixes it before starting on the next one but really want to find what restrictions have been put on these models so I can start deristricting.

I did find the brown wire cut on my CDI and have checked intake and there are no blockers there.

Was hoping for more interaction on the forum. Did I post in the wrong section? Nobody has any input, ideas or things to try?

I had an RX50 that had the restrictor ring on the variator. I took that off and it was a different scooter. These are Morini engines so not much in the way of go fast parts around.

hi. maybe you should check the muffler to see if any restrictions. that long in a garage and bugs could make it their home. maybe just loosen it a bit without taking it off to see if the airflow is better. you may get backfire but wth? or swap the mufflers to check. when you take it off just put a cloth over the end and blow through it. its a quick check.
it's probably your carb but you are lucky it at least starts. you're halfway there. maybe clean that to get that checked off. lot of varnish could have built up. I also might recommend using pre mix fuel and blocking off the oil pump for now. That eliminates another variable.
I'm no expert here and am actually reluctant to respond. There are many here that can give better advice so be patient and check back.
