So I recently - Around a month ago - purchased a Campus Cruiser 50cc outright from a dealer, It's been my primary mode of getting to work. I've noticed that recently the acceleration seems.. iffy? After it's been running and in use for around five (after pushing off, not leaving it idle.) or so minutes it seems fine, but when it's initially started, left to sit a moment (to warm up?) when I initially get going I notice it not really getting up past 20-25mph and sometimes it loses power before recovering and working fine after. (This could be hills on my road, They definitely exist, but I don't feel like that's the entire issue so I still want to ask.)
I'll finish by saying this is my first time owning one of these, or a scooter in general. and I'd like to keep it in good working order.
The main thing that's worrying me is that initial lack of acceleration / power.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like a quite common thing some scooters get while running on the auto choke at first. It might be making it worse if it's a new tight engine. They definitely free up a bit after two of three hundred miles of use.

I'm actually at about ~700 miles on it currently, and I know we had an issue with the gas having dirt or other crap in it at one point (It was dying out as soon as you try to apply throttle). I'd not noticed further issues after draining the gas and putting new in. It started up immediately and ran fine up until recently. I'm not sure if the issues could be connected or not, but one thing I could try is cleaning / blowing out the carburetor and seeing if that helps. It seems to bog down at mid-high range. (20-30mph)
also unrelated but when the guy we had assemble the thing did so they didn't put the spacer in the bolt for the handlebar / steering so that's fun to deal with. I ordered that so when that gets here hopefully that'll solve the wobblybar.
I have bad luck with mechanicals in general. Wee.
Thank you for the warm welcome, though!
