Hi.
I'm doing some maintenance of my scooter, and I've purchased replacement clutch pads, new 3.5 gram variator rollers (more speed uphill), and new exhaust screws.
Testing the scooter on a flat surface, it does 42 km/h. I was wondering if that indicates that I should replace the drive belt, and if there are any recommendations here.
I've bought the stubs for new exhaust screws, but couldn't find any bolts with a flange similar to the one that's on there now. I guess using some rust-free discs and nuts is enough to keep everything in place. I was wondering if there is any point in for example spraying WD-40 into the holes on the frame. I guess locktite or something similar is OK to lock the stubs into the frame.
Also I've bought some brake pads for the rear and front, and was wondering if I should replace the brake fluid on the front as well, and in general how to safely replace the pads in the front.
The guy who sold me this scooter clearly wasn't completely honest, so the clutch housing might be worn as well - any tips there or tips on other things I should take a look at?
Regards,
Morten

You are supposed to change the brake fluid every couple of years. Not many people do. So any new vehicle I will change it. If you take a picture of the exhaust bolt, we might be able to help. The 3.5g rollers are extremely light, and might be limiting your speed. This might explain more for you. www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/moped-tuning--rollers

3,5 grams is waaaaaaay too light. Unless you've built a 13000 rpm race motor. On a stock motor you'll need 6-7 grams.

Will it eventually get up to 45 km/h with light rollers, it just takes a bit longer? I'm replacing the clutch pads and the belt as well.

You need to set the variator up to hold the revs where you make most power. Unless you have a high end performance exhaust. You are going to be above the power band.

OK. AFAIK everything is stock on this scooter, so I know I'll probably have to order a couple of other sets then.
But this was a scooter shop, so I'm going to try the 3,5 first and see how that goes, especially uphill.

I changed it last week. The old one maybe looked a bit darker. I also chose DOT 4, the cap said 3 or 4. Now the brake feels a bit more responsive, and it doesn't feel as stiff as it did earlier, in low temperatures. You are supposed to change the brake fluid every couple of years. Not many people do.
