Hey everyone. I have a Yerf Dog quad. It’s some off brand but I see the company is located in Ohio? I was told and after looking it up, it looks to be a cloned engine of the Yamaha Jog
It is 2 stroke and uses an Automatic trans, belt driven CVT.
I wanted to just do a tune up and add a bigger main jet but I’ve been told these can actually be decent with a big bore kit, CVT adjustments, and cdi swap.
I see big bore kits online but I’m not sure which Is the correct one. Do I want one that says 100cc or 70cc?The bigger kit the crank can handle, the better, right? I don’t want to dive into the case and replace the crank, just the top end.
What about cdi? Someone said they ran a crf50 cdi and other have said they’ve tweaked it to run better.
What about the CVT mods? I saw a video from 49cc on YouTube where the guy mentions removing a washer where the belt rides to bring in the spacers closer. I’ve also been told you can grind 1/8” off the plate.
If I do not do a top end kit, could I still mess with the cdi and add different carb to make it a bit more fun?
Lastly, the wiring is a mess. I’m not sure why there’s so many wires. All I see is the, key switch, electric choke, start/stop button, starter and wires going to the cdi, but I have way more wires bunched up. Are they just bunched up or can I remove what I don’t need? My yz80 with the same parts, except electric choke and electric start has a much smaller wiring harness.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
