Drag racing, bike show, a mobile dyno should be there, group rides, stunt lot, it's near the Tail of the Dragon, Foothills Parkway, Cherohala Skyway and tons of great twisty mountain roads. Groms, Monkeys, scoots, small dirt bikes and even larger motorcycles attend. All details on the site or check their facebook group. smokymountainsmallborerally.com/

I've got a motel reservation in Townsend again. Should be there with T2 and the TMAX. AFAIK ryan_ott will be with me. Definitely worked out great last year to have a friend to take the trip and split costs. I enjoyed it a lot more than I think I would have going alone, though once you're there you can find plenty of people on small bikes. If you haven't already, check in the facebook group for others going near you. It's a small bore event, but the area is amazing to ride so big bikes are fun to have around too. I never realized the Cherohala Skyway was past The Dragon last time so I didn't get to ride that. Hoping to do that this time, which will most likely be on the TMAX since it's a 150 mile ride or so up and down mountains. I think Ryan will have his CB500 as well as a small scoot. So many roads in the vicinity that you could probably spend months exploring.

I’ll be tagging along with the MetRuck and the CB550. Hopefully everything stays intact this year. This will be year 4 making the trip.

Got my drag racing entries today! I'm signed up for the 2T class and the Ruckus/Chuckus class. Ruckus/Chuckus is a CVT scooter class. Sign up and come run with us! Register early and save a few bucks. It's $30 each after June 1st. smokymountainsmallborerally.com/drag-racingAlso, don't forget that there's still a $30 gate fee that the track collects for each racer the day of the event.

Last year there was only 2 bikes, they didn't even want to let you guys run. Do you think this year will be better ?? Don't want to waste vacation time for nothing I'm hoping so. For one, the event will be on Friday this year instead of Thursday. That may bring more people, because some only show up for the weekend. Also, Lee (drc174 here) of ThatScooterShop went to a Vespa event that was the same time last year because the rally was scheduled on a different weekend than usual that year, but he has been there for past events. His friend crashed just before the event IIRC and couldn't make it. At least there probably would have been 4 of us. This year I think Scott (oldgeek) is gonna come out. If all of those show, there's 5. I have others on YouTube comments saying they're gonna come. Who knows for sure though? Last year some big bad Rucks were supposed to show up after talking smack online and were nowhere to be seen. What I'll say is, I'd be very surprised if you came out to the area during the rally and felt like you wasted your time for nothing. Maybe if the weather sucks or something, but that's beyond anyone's control. I'd move there if it were feasible, rally or no rally, just for all of the roads. During the rally there are little bikes all over the place, and then there's the actual rally location that has a bike show, riding games, vendors, food trucks, a tattoo artist doing quick rally tats, and they've had a mobile dyno out there. There are some huge group rides if you're into that. Plus, I enjoyed the day at the track regardless. The fast groms are fun to watch, this year there are some racing minibikes that say they're coming out, and I'll be more than happy to do exhibition passes with anyone when lanes are open as I'm sure the other scoot guys will as well. We could have made passes for hours at the end last time and almost had the track to ourselves as most people packed up once the brackets were done. ...And I'd imagine we could get some scoot rides going.

Well, it looks like a few of us that planned to go aren't going to be able to make it; myself included. Life happened for some of us and it's not going to work out. I'm disappointed, but maybe next year. I'd still encourage anyone that can to check out the event and give yourself time to ride in the area. I could live there. Such amazing roads all around and when the small bore rally is happening you're constantly seeing fellow small bike enthusiasts out there with you, plus the actual events. I just cancelled my reservation a few minutes ago, so if you're looking for a place there may be a room at the Townsend River Breeze Inn suddenly available. Ryan and I stayed there last year and they were very accommodating with parking for the bikes and trailer and they even had cloths out for cleaning bikes and said we could use their hose if we wanted to wash the bikes.
