Is it better to leave the 49cc or install a 72cc kit on a scooter?
I have a Kymco People 50S 2007 and when it was all original, the top speed was 70~75 km\h. In 2009 i put a 72cc kit, i always hit the 75 km\h but with more torque! With the 72cc kit, i leave the original air box and exhaust.
Here in Montreal, if the police see you have make some modifications (air box, exhaust, more noise) they can give you a ticket plus a inspection!
Now i think to put back the 49cc and bring all the original setup! I'm tired always adjust the carburator, check the plug and have the same performance of the 49cc...
A 80cckit, did it make better performance of the 72cc kit????

if you have standard gearing and variator etc, unless your bigger cylinder is ported to give higher rpm and the exhaust to let it breathe at high revs, you will not really see an improvement in top speed, but will definately see better acceleration ane rideability... some police carry a small portable roling road and they will roadside test the top speed of a 'restricted' scooter to see if it has been tmpered with. this could mean you get ticketed for (in the uk) riding an unrestricted scoot at age 16, or the may do you for no insurance... assuming you have insured the bike as a 50 and not declared the bigger cc mods... tbh 75kmh from a 50cc is pretty good... but i bet it takes ages to get there and drops off when you come to a hill!

I'd prob stick with the 72cc for the acceleration and leave it alone otherwise to avoid problems with the local law. Like vvtr said, you probably need more RPM or different gearing to actually go faster. 80cc kit probably won't do a lot more than the 70cc. Doubt your speed will go up, you might just see even more acceleration. Not enough to be worth buying another kit as well as the possible added stress on the bottom end.

the stage 6 street race cast iron 3 stroke kit has 49cc stamped on the side
there are only 2 ways to go faster more revs or diffrent gearing
on 2 strokes we are lucky normaly when you kit it you get better torque and have better port timings for more revs
with a 4 stroke you are just getting more torque if you just put a bbk on you need other work to get more revs out

My scooter is a 4 strokes! Last summer i see the new Kymco Super 8 2 stroke! I think the 2 stroke have more power of the 4 stroke? Here in Canada, 2 stroke are not restricted, the dealer said to me the Super can hit 75 km\h stock! Imagine if i put a 70cc kit!?
