Rh50
70cc mhr replica
19mm malossi phgb W/pod filter
Malossi secondary gear 14/43
Malossi performance CDI
Yasuni Z ( I'm "shop ordered the wrong pipe" guy..see previous post)
Malossi variator 7g
Stock drive face
Malossi Yellow Contra spring
Stock clutch w/stock springs**
Stock pulley set up
Stock belt
Running a 118 main jet, Pilot jet and Needle type/postion???unknown as of now.
** This build was done by the Vespa dealership technician, I don't have a shop let alone a sheltered place to wrench, I bought the RH50 knowing I was gonna BBK it, and when looking for step 2 with the build, (step 1 removed wedding ring restrictor), I was shopping for a performance variator. Saw Malossi and it's specific compatibility with the RH50, the choice was made. Just months ago, I only knew I had a 2T 50cc with decent looking factory suspension. Had an 96' Elite S...In 96'...off the lot too, voided it's warranty day one with:
78cc aluminum bore
18mm carb ( top brand 96' version)
Arrow pipe
10:1 gearing
Race pulley
Contra spring 1500rpm
Rest of it Stock except Japan tail light.
These bikes, Aero 50's, 85' sprees w/AF16 thrown in, 87' Elite w/AF16 were going off, New ideas and better/more parts coming out monthly. Had one, so I know a little, very little about anything other than Honda mopeds but I'll figure it out listening to some braddahs on here.
Anyway, I'm looking for a Malossi variator kit for this bike, and didn't know which sites to trust, and prices from legit USA scooter part companies were like 150.00. So i remember Vespa had some Malossi stuff on a very small wall, and i remember seeing rollers when i bought the bike. On a whim, called them and asked if they could get one and how much would it be....expecting to hear 150.00, but no shipping, so said what the heck. Dude says "oh, lemme check, comes back with, I got one right here and they're 75.00 plus tax? I rode my derestricted danger trap Roughhouse up there and bought it. Found out tech helper has a Buddy, and his boss and him built it. So they've done several builds and know the build headaches and workarounds for "some" things come to find out. And there shop is clean and organized compared to the work load. So the plan with this RH50 was have them do the heavy lifting, and I'd bat clean up...granted they " communicated " with me throughout the process, well, long story, but everything you see except for the Malossi variator, Vespa Marietta did. I told them City16 exhaust and they snuck in the Z, told them to tune it accordingly, meaning make it perform properly for that set up, and they didn't touch cvt at all.
That oil from head.....so finally got around to giving it a once over, paranoid I'm gonna destroy something, got the trail tech tto installed yesterday, before anything else, and went to take out the plug....practically hand tight in there!! Either sprak plugs commonly back themselves out, or Vespa didn't torque it properly.
Either way, that's what I'm running 400 miles in, pre-mix a couple drops, 118 main, and last 2 weeks 15°- 45° outside temp, bike stays outside but covered at work, I'm always at work, so...
I know there's a lot to adjust/upgrade and tune, but considering the unknowns during the build, and how it's set up, I'd say the plugs not to far from getting ideal?
Idk, gotta address the black which means either, cold plug ( OH yeah, btw, that's a BRP7HS that they put in as job completed, here ya go sir, that'll be 450.00 for labor. Aside from that, it's all on me now, so that's my story, I'm learning as I go,
Any input, advice or guidance will be welcomed, but be patient with me bc I'll get info that's wrong from someone, or somewhere, so I got questions. Like I just posted that I found out where the smaller bushing for Malossi variator goes on the Roughhouse, posted between the clutch and the bell, per Malossi instruction manual. But that's for a Kymco, pretty sure bell wouldn't fit if I put it there.
And what's up with the whole delete the electric start so the variator will function better?? Has anyone done it, and what was the outcome?
Last thing, I got the malossi red Hammer clutch springs M299604B, thinking these were the single reds out of set M299605. So, can I use them on the stock RH clutch?? Has anyone put those on a stock clutch?? Correct ones getting order after this. But if they work?? And everyone agrees that with my type of set up, upping clutch springs will drastically improve take off etc...right now I'm revving super high then whaaap, it'll catch hard and jerk on the shift from the angled torque converter. I'll try to video tomorrow. Whadda y'all think?
I'll live if I can't rejet immediately right? Play with A/F mixture maybe? Ran WOT first time last night to test temp gauge....running 280° at 15 sec WOT, for 3 miles intervals.!!
