Hi so i re-painted my aprilia sr50 R engine cover. As usual you do have to take off the kickstarter in order to sand it down correctly and apply new paint.
After everything re-installed ( i've had a ton of trouble fitting the kick starter spring ) i've tried to start the bike but something scratches inside like non-stop.
Took of the cover to see what is wrong, and saw that there is a big mark on the variator plastic fan ( like in the middle big line ). It looks like something is scratching the fan as the bike is running.
Did a re-fit again, did a double check to see if everything is in place, put the cover back on and after starting it there was the same scratching again , but this time i did a little push on the kick starter towards inside and the scratching was gone. It seems like there is a small loose on the kick starter .
Has anyone had a similar problem like or can you give me clue on what to look for.
I forgot to mention that the bike runed perfectly before . My battery runed out so i have to start it on the kick starter during the winter.
Thanks

Which engine does your SR have? Minarelli, piaggio, or Ditech?

It's not likely the spring is on wrong. Otherwise it wouldn't work. Is the spring seated equally all the way round the post it fits over? If not you should be able to move it with a small slotted screw driver. The other thing comes to mind, is the spring located at the bottom of the spring post? The other end to what's on the gear.
