Finally got this thing running. Reed cage was delayed, the throttle cable took some fuckery, as did the exhaust mount, and I came down with a sinus infection. The fact that the temp outside kept dropping didn't help either. I've heat cycled it a couple times, might do one or two more before I try to take it for a little spin. I'm starting with a 94 main, 33 idle, and the needle clip is one up from the center. Rollers are 6 grams. youtube.com/shorts/S-0gpbrmg1U?si=gM2Vl76yhIwcAWWj

I took it for a little spin, carb settings feel good, atleast below half throttle. Might need to go up 1/2 gram on the weights but we'll see after a couple more runs. Suppose to rain the next couple days and then get cold and maybe snow. Hopefully the weatherman is wrong and I get back to it in a day or two.

Had a pause in the rain and got in a few more break in rips. I'm pretty happy with it so far. The front end would come up with little to no effort if I wanted it to. Hoping for a couple more moments of clear sky so I can work it up to full throttle and see how she feels WFO 😁 youtube.com/shorts/fohsZDh9Bno?si=zlhNnp5XnuJoampZ

Nice, any idea what your revs are doing?

Man this thing is a blast! Have taken it on a few rips over the past couple days and it runs great. Based off my temps I could drop a jet or two but it's not. 4 stroking or gurgling so I'm going to leave it be till I put a couple tanks of gas through it unless the plug says otherwise when I check it. It's hitting between 9600 and 9700 rpms if my runleader is believable. I'm gonna take it on one more run and then retorque my head and check my plug color. As well as mark my variator and check my belt travel but based off of how it's performing I don't think it needs much if any tweaking.

Nice one, shortest successful build thread ever!
Should be right in the meat of the pipes good range, afaik.

Replaced my leaky petcock with a manual one and put a new filter on while I already smelled like gas. Made sure to cap the vacuum on the intake. Also retorqued my head and checked my plug. It's a nice chocolate brown. I did notice a slight hanging throttle when warm so I'll have to adjust my air screw a little but I'm pretty happy with where the carbs at. Need to verify I'm getting all my belt travel and get my secondary gears replaced, but I'm pretty close to the finish line. If the weather would stop being crazy that would be a help.

Spoke too soon. I'm having an issue with the bike wanting to die/dying whenever I try to give it throttle. It idles fine and seems to be worse when the motors cold. I noticed it before but was able to feather through it past 1/4 throttle and assumed it was related to my hanging idle which I planned on addressing today after riding into work. That didn't happen because I couldn't get it to go, whenever I applied throttle it just died. The only thing different about today was the temperature, it was pretty cold today. Would I be right in thinking it's the air screw mix or possibly to small of an idle jet? TIA

Try a B8 plug maybe, B9 may be too cold for your riding conditions. That's the first thing I would do, if my plug didn't have any signs of overheating / grey / specs or matter on it etc.
Also try one step down on the main jet if you think it's rich bogging, and check / adjust the needle clip on the throttle slide.
Those carbs come with the clip in the 2nd to top position, so 2nd to most lean. I have mine in the middle, which I feel is too rich for my pipe, but I have an accelerated ring wear issue that I'm trying to babysit.
Also could try getting more air into the airbox, the pipe should be able to deal with it. Zino runs with the snorkel out of the airbox, I found mine wouldn't run like that, so I cut the end off the inside part of it for a slightly bigger intake diameter.

I think I have it worked out. I'm pretty sure it was just a lack of fuel keeping it from running. I forgot to open the bowl drain so the fuel line and filter could fill with fuel after I changed the petcock, D'oh. It's back to running good. I did turn the air screw in to remedy my hanging idle.

I’m glad my build thread was of some help. That was my goal of posting the thread, I was really hoping that somebody would learn from my mistakes. Plus it’s kind of fun to take photos and talk about scoots!
What did you end up running in the CVT and gears? I know Zino chimed in and recommended the Malossi or NCY torque driver and I would second that. I found the smoother shift to be much more enjoyable to ride and easier to tune. I would also recommend you get a cylinder head temperature gauge, TrailTech makes a popular model but there’s some cheaper options out there that should be fine too. Gears are also probably worth it, you can eke out some more speed while preventing the motor over-revving.

I'm running a malossi variator with stylepro front pulley, malossi fly clutch and bell with the malossi torque driver. I have 6 x 6g rollers with yellow malossi clutch springs, stock contra with the yellow torsion controller and the longer malossi belt Zino suggested. I haven't checked to see what kind of belt travel I'm getting yet the few warmer days we've had I've spent just riding it. It feels really good though. I have the 15/42 malossi gears but I haven't had a chance to install them yet. It feels at the point where any more tuning I do will be to get the last little bit out of it. I think I might like a little stiffer contra and I may need to take like 0.1mm out of my shimming, it feels like the belt may be slipping just a little at take off but I'm not positive of that. It's fun as shit to ride and if I ever wanted it to the front wheel would come right up. I'm running a Runleader temp and tach but I dont know if I trust it, so I have a Trailtech I'm waiting for an extension for, and a koso tach I'm going to throw on it

Swapped in the yellow malossi spring without the torsion controller and swapped three 7g rollers in for three of the 6g and found the sweet spot for my riding style. I love this thing. Feel kinda bad for how neglected my Liberty is going to be this spring and summer.
