sooo.. Have a tao tao gy6.... one of those greeeeeat, tony the tiger great Chinese scooters... after cleaning the carb, replacing fuel / vacuum lines, petcock(which is working for now), as well well as cleaning everything else(i worked in a rental shop on 2 and 4 stroke engines for 6 or so years, so i know the 4 stroke fairly well but def needed a refresher..)
so for times sake , lets say ive done the obvious and a little bit of the not so obvious, gaped the valves .004 on both, just want to get it to run, then i can fine tune later. Jets inside the carb as well as the carb has been cleaned. took some speaker wire and made sure i could blow air through all holes. float properly works. have compressor made sure air was going through and through all inlets/holes(maybe i missed something, but was thoroughly knowing how important combustion is lol necessary , to start an engine... i could have missed something tho.. im human. (Ryan btw))
with that being said the engine turns over, starts, 1-2 seconds later kills...
not familiar with butter fly throttles but theres a screw not to complicated... played with that after a couple vids.. also the airflow/ fuel adjuster screw. closed it opened it up a turn, 1 1/2 , 2 turns etc...
Really need to get this thing going because my truck has more expensive repairs ...
OOoo and I was given the scooter from a collage neighbor without the key... I pulled the cdi cable (black and white) and spliced the black to the red . no electronics work(lights dimly come on "Dashboard" horn works, but nothing else.... Idk if its not getting enough juice from the brand new battery (concerning why electric start doesn't do anything. but tested the battery got, 12.6v on battery and solenoid maybe it was 12.4. it was good), or if ive done the "hot wiring " incorrectly. i get a spark from spark plug whether i take a screw driver to solenoid or kick start ... any help would be greatly appreciated i needed this thing running 3 days ago... Thanks!
e choke tested works, fuel tank has no cap but i used a red bull can cut to size, zip tie(maybe its affected pressure?)Pretty positive its an air/fuel +/- issue but not positive.
concerning the hot wire, i take a screw driver with rubber handle.. apply to solenoid, and the starter, makes its noise, but doesnt turn over the engine. just the sound of a starter... only way i can get it started, is the kick start again run for 2-3 seconds and dies... then it wont start up again, unless i wait 5 or so minutes... the start button doesnt work or incorrect wiring... i see the lights and the horns works when kick starting though.. if i recall correctly i had sprayed one shot of carb cleaner into air intake, everytime otherwise it doesn't crank over, may have been one or 2 times i didnt use it... drilled a hole in the air filter housing and ran the fuel overflow hose into the air filter, thinking any over flow would help it to keep running... any thoughts on that? good idea, bad idea? was that pinky and the brain lol? anyway..
i apologize about the punctuation and kinda being here and there, in a hurry to go help a buddy. have notifications on please any help would be incredible! idk if pics are necessary but i can post some shortly on the bus. THANKS AGAIN!!!
will be checking back here all day, also working on it when i get back home... again anything would be appreciated... i worked with snow blowers, lawn mowers, etc.... self propelled but not like this. obviously similar, just feel im missing something easy/stupid...
