Hello! I am restoring a 50cc VIP future champion scooter. I replaced the petcock, as well as the fuel lines. However, when I try the electric start, there is no gas going into the carburator. I take the vaccum line off of the petcock and put my finger over the exhaust manifold nipple and feel it blowing out instead of sucking in.
Any ideas are helpful. Thanks!

The fuel petcock vacuum line connects to the intake manifold vacuum port, NOT the exhaust manifold.

The vacuum line shouldn't go to the exhaust. There should be a nipple on the intake or engine for it to connect to. You can check the petcock is working by sucking on the vacuum line. If you have no fuel in the carb. It's best to prime the carb by doing this first anyway.

I just removed my vacuum petcock and installed a manual one. I've had bikes with manual petcocks before so it's not even a thought to me to turn it on and off at each ride.

You might find that you need to blank off where the vacuum pipe should go. Otherwise you will have an air leak.

Thanks for the responses! I believe I have it hooked up right now, as the petcock is sucking gas into the carb. However, I still have no gas going to the spark so the engine won’t start. I know this, because I take the spark out and put my finger over the spark hole and feel no moisture or gas. Let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks!

**UPDATE**
Took the scooter to a mechanic and found out that it lose compression, as s broken stadar. If anyone has any easy fixes that would be great! Or any ideas. Otherwise I think I'm just going to try to sell it for parts.

Sounds like it should go cheap for parts.
