Howdy there. I got a 70cc kit on a OEM crank, Tecnigas Next-R exhaust, with a tuning variator and full tuning clutch kit, and a belt that fits pretty good for my setup, but I'm only getting about 50 km/h or 30mp/h for you Americans. What am I doing wrong, I have 8g rollers in and it sits at about 8500rpms when accelerating. I got a 21mm round slide PHBG carb and it's jetted pretty much perfectly for my setup. Some folks before have told me to port my cylinder or get a bigger exhaust, but even with my current exhaust I should at least be able to hit 80km/h or 50mp/h right?
I also tried marking my variator and I saw that my belt wasn't getting all the way to the top (maybe 2-3mm from the top), but does that really affect top speed so much? I have the opportunity to switch the grooves in my torque converter to a more straight line instead of a kinda bendy line. Should I do that instead? Or maybe my clutch spring is too hard and it can't open all the way up? I have some 1k RPM clutch trims in and a (I think) 2k RPM clutch spring in it. Are the rpm ratings supposed to match with each other or?
Please let me know anything I could be doing wrong and if you have some tips and tricks I'd really appreciate it. And to all of you reading this, have a wonderful day (or night for that matter)

thats pretty slow even for a stock 2 stroke. 2-3mm from the top shouldnt limit you that much. check your tuning variator vs stock one. make sure the tuning one is larger. there is 2 diff size variators ive seen stock on the 2 strokes. ones really small the other one not so much. its possible your tuning one is the small one and slowing you down. the only other thing id really point towards is the exhaust or the reeds are going bad. both will cause low power. your exhaust should be fine as its atleast a sport pipe but some dont work with the 70cc kits well. exhaust can carbon up too and cause it to run poorly if its older exhaust. when i bought my scoot the oil pump was stuck open and filled the cylinder and exhaust up with oil and i could never clean it out. i burned the pipe a few times and it got it to run but i couldnt get over 30 either. put a new exhaust on it and it was fine.

I just upgraded to a 24mm PWK carb and it ran 80km/h / 50mp/h on about 400 meters. I think the 21mm carb wasn't doing me any good from the bottom since it has a round slide, so it might not have had enough power to push me towards the powerband. I'm still looking to get more out of it though, and I'm looking for a 50mm cylinder kit and crankshaft (90cc kit) and a V8 exhaust pipe. What are you thinking?
