How much torque is needed for the variator nut? I have used a 125ft lb impact wrench and it came off. I have a 230 ft electric wrench...but will it be too much?

Ive used an impact set on the lowest setting with my lil POS compressor and if everything (spacing wise) is correct they never come off. Ive also had them as tight as possible and still come loose if there is any "slop" in the vari after the nut is tight. Are you trying something different with spacers and spacing? Did you remove the washer in the vari? Both of these can cause this. A worn out nut with weak thread or mating face can come loose too. Might try another nut if you have one. Thread locker (the blue kind) is never a bad idea either. It can actually save your threads some wear as the thread locker acts as a "lube" of sorts and coats the threads.

AS far as an actual number? I dunno? I always use my "that feels tight enough method"

Use as beefy of an impact as you'd like to remove it, but limit tq on install. I use a 38# torque stick on my impact gun to install.

Nope....just opened it up to weigh my roller weights....

I see... Ide heed Brents advice, or use your lowest setting possible.
