The pilot jet was in a Yamaha package and was supposedly a NOS 46 pilot

yes those mikuni main jets work in stock Zuma carb I have used them
The pilot jet does not look like the one I used

TK carbs also take the 6mm dellorto jets.
I had a TK 14mm on my axis and had a bunch of Dellorto 6mm's.
Works perfectly.

This was the package that the pilot jet came in. Is this not the right one? Seems like the head being so much taller might cause issues. On a related note, how many turns do you set your idle air screw at? Mine was still covered with the aluminum disc and I just removed it.  |

1 1/2 to 2 turns out is where you should start with an air mixture screw .
I checked my Zuma build threads that is the right part number for the vino pilot jet that I used in stock carbs try it

You can also get a 82 & 84 jet from Yamaha. I did the 84 on top performance kit & Leo Zx pipe.
