Hi i have a 2006 genuine scooters black cat with 6600 miles on it and as i was riding today the scooter began to lose power. It dipped down to about 20 mph then got faster again and fluctuated like this for about 10 minutes then it started making a kinda thumping feeling like something was off balance. It then started making a fairly loud grinding noise when i let off the throttle and a feeling like something was dragging behind me. Any ideas of what might be wrong?

I would crack open the cvt and look at belt and pulleys
with the scooter not running spin the clutch bell to see if you hear the sound it may be a stuck rear brake
on the center stand start the scooter up and let it idle then rev it up slowly and back to idle so you see it change gears

Basically what Zino, said. Open the rear cover, check the vario, clutch + bell, and the belt. If those turn out to be good, might want to open the cilinder, and check the piston / cilinderwall. After that, i’d check the wiring around the spark/ignition, but my guess is you’ll find something in the cvt or surroundings.
