<script src="moz-extension://b7a78979-00f7-4b51-858f-d85f6fb02500/js/app.js" type="text/javascript"></script>Hey there. I have a nice 50cc 4 stroke scoot, thats equipped with an ECU. Long story short, i drive the absolute maximum legal limit in my country, which is 40 km/h, but only if the officer has had a nice day. I took out the drive boss limiter a while ago and it could run 75 km/h. Then i got taken once and decided to go "legal" which is the 40 km/h. My problem is that the roads i take to get to school, are mostly bike trails and country roads where the police (almost) NEVER go. I wanna know if there is a kind of way to limit the ecu, so it goes down to about 30 km/h when i flip a switch, or if there might be a little thing you can put on the spark plug cable, that can restrict the RPM's, just temporarily. Ive seen it done easily on CDI scoots, but i havent heard of a "Cheap" way to do it on ECU 4 stroke scoots. If anyone has some info, it'd be greatly appreciated. Anything helps. Thanks in advance

Connect a wire from the spark plug... to the handlebar throttle control. When connected, you will get a slight jolt as the engine runs.... Operant conditioning will train you to become hesitant to open the throttle, and you will keep your speed below the legal limit. Once you learn, you can disconnect the wire, and depend on your training to keep the throttle closed more... I jest. Some CDI spark controls had a terminal that when connected would limit the top rpm the CDI could function. Find one of those, and connect a switch to that terminal and to ground. When the rpm limit is reached, the CDI will start killing the spark, and you will slow down. I do not know what brands, but many sold in the UK had the rpm limited CDIs. There are YT videos on disconnecting the 'colored wire' from the CDI to get higher rpm without the CDI killing the spark. You could add a mark on the handlebars near the throttle that would keep your speed within the 'legal' limit. Add a mark to the twist grip so when the two align, you are 'legal'. If adventurous or mechanically inclined, you could add a mechanical slide that bumped into the hand control when slid in one direction, and allowed full throttle when moved to the opposite position. enough. tom

I've been thinking of just Jerry rigging an rpm limiter to the spark plug, and grounding it, since I dont really have other ways to temporarily limit my speed. The police are very strict about going too fast on a scooter in Denmark, so I just want to be able to temporarily limit my speed when I see the police, or drive in a police populated area. Since I have an ECU on my 4 stroke, it's not really an easy thing to do, but if I remove the drive boss restriction I'll be able to run about 70 km/h, and with school being far away, I don't want to be stuck driving 30 km/h until I get my car license. Thanks for the tips, I'll make sure to try it out
