Hi, on my zuma theres a vacuum petcock and i was wondering if i could disable the vacuum and just rely on the gravity to feed the carb and throw on a shutoff valve on the hose or do they sell a shutoff valve petcock?

Hey. So it's really simple. Take off the petcock from the gas tank, you will see 5 screws holding it together. Unscrew them all, it will fall apart. There will be a gasket and a membrane. Take out the membrane completely and plug the vacuum hole with a screw. Screw the 2 halfes together with the original gasket (no gasket maker please) and its done. But, you have to buy a seperate shutoff valve, because gas will always be flowing. And unfortunately no, they dont sell original non-vacuum petcocks anymore, the screw or twist types like on piaggio. this is for these types of petcocks:

Apart from the unlikely event of the vacuum petcock failing. None really. In all the scooters I've owned over the years. Only ever had one fail. And when it did, it would not stop the flow of fuel. So still worked.

After accidently pinching the vacuum line while doing carb work, I've removed my OE vacuum petcock and installed a manual. I'm very familiar with the manual from all the other vehicles I've owned so no big deal to me to remember to turn it off after each ride.
