Hi all , I’m confused with the gears on the zuma , I keep seeing the the 02-07 have different gears than the 08+ , when replacing the gears what would be the best gears for the 02-07? I keep seeing a chart but I do t really understand what I am looking at as I thought all zuma/bws 02-11 are the same.
Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

With the 2002-2007 You can go as low as 14/42 and get a final gear ratio 11 to 1 You could also use 15/50 and 14/43 they would give you closer to 12 to 1 ratio
I have run 14/42 myself on my 2005 that had a malossi sport and pipe yasuni r ,tecnigas next r and malossi wild lion Just remember to re-balance the cvt so you get the same shift points I had to drop weights about half a gram
With the 2008-2011 you cannot run the 14/42 because that gets you closer to a 10 to ratio unless you have a racier set up

Both 2005s One has the polini 70cc kit with Yasuni R pipe ,other is the malossi 70cc with the Yasuni R pipe as well. Looking for top end speed Thanks in advance

14/42, followed by 14/43 and 15/50 would theoretically give you the best top speed, but overcoming wind resistance becomes a factor so the kit/pipe combination and resulting HP plays as big a part as gearing. Keep in mind that the highest gearing, 14/42, also takes the greatest toll on acceleration.

With the horse power you will put down to the tires to cut through The wall of wind The 14/42 gears get you one more or two mph . Theoretically they should give you 5 more mph than the but as you go faster the wind pushes back.
So just slap the ones that you find that are cheapest and straight cut . Straight cut gears are most efficient and as an added bonus they wind up it sounds like a turbo

That’s the exact reason I went with 15/50 lol. I’m over everything being loud so I didn’t want to hear my gears screaming. This was on a 05. On an old 09 I had I didn’t even change gears & it would do 50 with a top performance kit, Leo Zx pipe, & jetted stock carb.
