Bought my daughter a Sym jet x 50 and it’s been running great but suddenly it’s started bogging down going uphill! Runs and pulls fine on flat or downhill but as soon as you get uphill it starts to bog and you can back off the throttle and limp it up the hill but if you try to accelerate it just bogs again! Please anyone point me in a direction!

Well, running uphill is an additional load on the machine, similar to a passenger or heavy cargo so: Any issues with engine health, fuel or air intake will show up more prominently with additional loading.
If your symptoms are described accurately, it suggests the driven pulley, the contra spring and/or the TS (Torque Sensing). They team up during extra loading to force a CVT backshift (forced downshift). If the parts have been messed with, they might be the wrong parts If the parts are stock, they may need maintenance and lube, along with the drive pulley.
One thing to understand is that these CVT's are designed to backshift and will slow down with that extra loading. That's normal. So if the machine is simply slowing down going uphill, its normal, to a point, assuming a tuned CVT with proper and healthy parts. Be like a manual transmission shifting to a lower gear going up the hill.
