A guy that I ride with, same one that had me cut the Dio cases I talked about in another recent thread, was looking at BWSP 125cc engines from AliExpress or their site. They have a bunch.

He wants a liquid cooled setup of some sort. He tried wrapping a cylinder and welding steel to it. I told him beforehand that generally that's brazed. He ignored that and then told me the other night that he cracked it trying to weld it so apparently there is a reason they are always brazed from what I've seen. The reason for him wanting LC is that he thinks these things can't go on long rides. He's not even sure that the LC stuff can. He thinks everything is bound to overheat. I still think there's a possibility that his setup is just wrong or the carb tune is off. Another guy that rides with him said he goes through a lot of cylinders. I cut a head for him and taught him how to check squish and told him about ports aligning at BDC. Not sure what anything actually looks like though.
He started talking about other people from the Dominican Republic that he met that splice Dio gearboxes onto Yamaha engines (cut and weld). I told him there are so much easier ways to be fast. It's not like he's out to be the fastest ever. He just wants something that's pretty fast that he can ride around. I said buy a Zuma with a horizontal Minarelli or a Piaggio with the Hyper2 and bolt some stuff on and be done with it. So many options. He wants a Dio engine.
That made me curious what they're really capable of. He was looking at roughly $2,000 full setups from BWSP in 125cc liquid cooled. I'm wondering if they even make much power for all that displacement. I told him before considering it too much, try to ask anywhere there's an audience with scoots if anyone has one of their setups. I doubt that he will. I googled and pretty much everything that comes up about them is from their own posts. They show videos of them doing wheelies, but I figure big deal. I have seen his Dio. The thing is mini. It fits in the back of his Civic. The front weighs nothing. My little Keeway Venus with a very mild 96cc (AC Taiwan kit, 184/128 IIRC, PG pipe, 9000RPM) would easily power wheelie. It was nothing compared to stuff like the TPR 86cc, RC-One or even the 103ccs that I had later. I suspect I could power wheelie that thing all day at 40MPH and beyond with the RC-One.
I don't see timeslips/dragys or dyno numbers. I look up 125cc Dio HP and it says 8.28 stock at 6,250 RPM. That makes me think they're largely low revving and not that quick compared to race stuff for other platforms with their big heavy internals and little intake windows. Most kits look like Taiwan stuff with sport ports at best. I remember talk of the 100cc Aerox/Grand Axis stuff being destined for lower RPM and no big HP numbers. Even the 180cc Piaggio engines aren't terribly impressive if you look at them beside the numbers that smaller engines can make at high RPM. Lots of power, but power per cc I mean.
I know oldgeek had some good times and results with his though. Of course we all know any Dio with a Corsa in Hawaii goes 100MPH too.
He's not gonna listen regardless because he wants what he wants. I'm just curious for my own sake right now.
