On lunch break yesterday, she died on me. I got it to the local scooter shop real quick, they'll do a diag and let me know after that.
I'm thinking top end. I retuned the carb a while back and I'm thinking it was a little lean. I had also began having variator problems as well, but again, I think due to to getting too hot here and there. I also noticed a leak at my exhaust flange. I felt like one day it was louder and the next day a little more and so on, but then a week ago I fired it up after work and it was obvious. That was probably part of the issue.
I had asked around on a FB group about temps and I got a lot of answers so I wasn't 100% sure but I think that I just had it a little too lean and a little too hot.
That being said, I am probably going to have to do a new cylinder kit. I had Athena, and I really liked it. One of the techs mentioned a 90cc kit but I didn't know if that would be over kill, or if a kit was available, and if so, would I need to bore the case to make room? If so, I'm out. I know zino recommends the Malossi kit and I'm definitely not opposed to that.
Update on the Chinese motor, never picked it up. Played a sort of online phone tag with the guy and it just didn't work out. I'm not loosing any sleep tho. I really would rather get a shortcase 90cc from a Polaris if I'm going that route.
Anyways, press F in chat or pour one out for my poor little scoot 😢

I also forgot to mention in this post the new clutch I picked up.
Polini 3 puck adjustable. I grabbed a nice Malossi bell to go with it. At first I thought my variator problems were my clutch so I replaced it first.
What do I need to know about clutch stiffness? What and how does it affect things?

I hope it's nothing serious. The clutch only really works up to about 15MPH. As long as you have all the springs set evenly. Just adjust it till you reach your desired RPM for take off. If you run out of adjustment. Changed to the next stiffer springs.

350 and below is what I use as a guide for safety . I want the bike to maintain that temperature on long miles long wide open runs .
The exhaust leak probably cooked your cylinder .

Got the bike home and disassemble the top end. The rings and cylinder didn't look terrible. Little bit of wear but I mean I figure that's normal. I did notice a little bit of scarring on the piston tho. It was a tiny little bit but it was really rough. I can probably post pictures sometime soon.
I've got a new cylinder kit, and some dr pulley sliders for my multivar. I also ordered a new wrist pin bearing. I'm going to pick up a new set of studs, and probably some fresh brake pads for the back. I recently moved, so I haven't had much time or energy to get to it much but I finally got it home the other day. I also brought home the triple tree, shocks, and cylinder/lever to get my front disc swap going. The shop also ordered a nice ncy caliper for me. So the last things I really need now are a hose and a rotor. Idk if this is a bad idea or not but I got a lever set up to go on the left side and I'm going to switch the rear brakes to the right side. I plan on going through lots of rear tires if you get what I mean. Burnout Queen 👑 lol
Anyways I might also have a lead on a malaguti. A customer for the local shop bought one for dirt cheap but may not want to put much into it so if they don't I'm going to make an offer and see if I can work something out.
