Found the AC problem. The high pressure safety switch was going intermittent and finally failed. My AC service guy confirmed the fault and bypassed the switch. The switch is brazed into the line which would necessitate major service. Bypassing the switch should not cause major problems. The switch is optional in many systems according to the service data. The AC is working now. A high pressure situation will cause the compressor to overload and shut down but should not cause damage. Bypassing the high pressure switch is a good call. In a high pressure situation the compressor will continue to run while bypassing internally and it will make a strange hissing sound. Causes of a high pressure situation are a dirty condenser, bad fan motor, or a metering device slammed shut.

Thanks for the info!
The AC system is still working fine. System charge seems OK, no high pressure at the service ports. Capacitor is good. I even have a spare if needed in my parts drawer. The condenser fan is a variable speed units. The compressor is one of those scroll compressors. Even with the system off for an hour the high pressure switch was open so bypassing seemed the best option. The system was installed Nov 2017 so I suppose the switch was just defective.

Hot here again:
100 °F like 109°
Miserable oven today. I am just lucky to have a relatively cool place to live. On days like this the AC may loose a few degrees, climbing from 76°F to 78 or even 80 inside but that is OK with ceiling fans. I just can't take heat anymore. I used to go to scout camp in the summer on staff, -not anymore.

Here in wherever we are in the UK today after 7 hrs driving it's very hot and clammy in the hotel. First laid on bed couple of hours ago when we got here and bed felt like it was heated. No idea what the temperature is but humid with small amounts of rain and lots of cloud think Yolanda said 24c whatever that is in real money 78f or thereabouts. Anyhow car Aircon don't work but windows do and luckily nor does the ground floor hotel room have A/C so all I had to do was switch on the fan which rotates back and forth and open a window and now it's cooled down. If I had to use A/C the modern digital control panel would have confused me and I would probably have made the heating go on. A while ago they put in new air source heating in our bungalow and the control panel looks like something from a spaceship. Yolanda can use it, damn thing Confuses me. The controller before that had a temp dial which was usually left about 10 or 11c and very rarely had to be looked at and I could understand it, all you had to do was turn it up or down.

Can't even sleep in bed now trying to sleep on the top of it and a damn fly keeps landing on my leg bloody things. Still could be worse if was the tropics with lots of biting things buzzing around. Mind you it might become that way with climate change 🫣

10°C = 50°F 11°C = 51.8°F 24°C = 75.2°F www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/conversions/celsius-to-fahrenheit.php-or- www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/conversions/fahrenheit-to-celsius.phpI just try and remember a few things as to where water freezes and boils at sea level. 50/52F is way to cold for an indoor temp 75F is cooler than I run my indoor AC temp but it would be pleasant. My thermostat is digital I suppose, there are + and - buttons and other buttons for mode; heat/off/cool or fan; on/off/circulate. It shows the temp setting and actual temperature. It is easy to understand, but programming it to change temperature on a schedule is beyond my brain capacity...
Flies and bugs may take us back to mosquito netting around the bed.

I see Amazon has mosquito netting. How would one hang it around a bed? Is there an established practice or method? Might be a good thing to be prepared... It is the scout motto. General information: I had some fly strips hanging in the garage. A wasp got in and landed on both strips. A fly strip won't hold a wasp. They don't even seem to take any notice of it...
Cooler today, only supposed to be 93°F today. It rained a little bit last night.

A ceiling fan does Wonders to improve comfort. Wiring can be done with surface mount conduit which is both attractive and totally safe. Actually meets code in many places, and if it doesn't, don't tell anyone. The fan mount should be directly into a ceiling joist with messier safe alternatives without going into the attic.

Most of my rooms have ceiling fans where light fixtures were. Two rooms have fans mounted directly to joists but wiring is in the attic.

I fitted a ceiling can in our bedroom a few years ago. When the wife started getting hot flushes and couldn't sleep at night. I don't like fans though. Hate wind blowing on my face. Even turn them off at work when it's about 100°F. I could never wear an open face helmet on the road.

So does the wind blow your cheeks out and beat you to death with your jowls? I always found the wind does bother my eyes if they are open, so not so much if I am asleep. Bad riding a scoot when asleep though. Bad as the rest of the drivers on the road... I was napping under the fan going half speed due to rain outside.

I tend to feel the cold more than the heat. I'm sure it feels 10 degrees cooler to me, than most people. They are walking round in t-shirts, and I have a jumper on. I don't even own a pair of shorts. Never gets that not for me.

Aeroxbud, reverse the fan direction so it sucks up (like a politician) instead of blowing down on your face (your comparison here please) will comfort you. :
