My son and I started a build yesterday. The original plan was a Motocompo type thing made from a Chinese scooter. Shortened frame, slightly reduced rake, folding handlebars, and a pop-up seat. The theory is to build a pair of them so he and his buddy could throw them in the back of my son’s jeep for impromptu exploring. Well, we got the donor scooter stripped down to the bare frame, cut the frame, and then things went very quickly off into the weeds. My son came up with the idea of a big-boy stand up scooter. Here’s some mock-up photos of the new direction…. I found some tubing appropriate for the task of frame stretching. In our next session, we will finish prepping then welding in the new frame components, stretching the handlebar riser up a few inches and designing and fabbing a few other component like battery compartment, fuel tank engine shroud and deck.

Standup scooters at speed look terrifying to me... but your projects are always amazing so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Definitely took a left turn somewhere in the design department 😆
