Honda Dio AF27
Current mods
1500 rpm koso clutch springs (contra and small) New oem type belt Lightened rollers, current 6x6.5g (I have option for 6x6.5g, 6x8g, 6x4g) V8 pipe, (bigger diameter than stock, for 70-90cc usually) Upjetted, current 82 jet (stock 75), have a range from 75 to 100
Relevant replacements Throttle cable
Problem: The scooter will die usually if I come to a stop, or slow down, or specifically when I go up a hill then let off the throttle a bit / fully on a slight flat. It makes a low pitched sound either from carb, exhaust or cylinder.
It runs perfectly apart from this issue, I’ve been trying to diagnose it a for a while, inspected the carb many times and cleaned it. When it dies, I try kickstarting it, which before the issue occurs, it starts first kick almost, but after it dies when ran it won’t start not even after 20 kicks. Then have to wait a minute or two before I can start it again

are you on stock carbs ? stock carbs air screw is 1 1/2 -2 turns out
The pilot jet may be blocked and is not providing enough fuel as you come off the throttle . You should see light through it you can boil it in vinegar to clean it up and run a fine wire through it
Your rpm may me set a notch too low
what rpm is your idle speed set ? 1500-2000 tends to work for most scoots try turning it up a half turn or so If you have no gauge what I set mine for is so that when I come to a stop sign at night at minimum the lights do not dim . This usually gets me in the range of my tire will spin slowly if on the stand when the scoot real warmed up .

Thanks for the reply, I’ve cleaned all jets thoroughly and especially the pilot jet, took it for a run and still the same, I’ve adjusted the air and idle screw so that the wheel turns slowly on its stand. I will double check the carb but I’m pretty stumped.

Solution ::: swapped carb float valve, old one slightly off, incorrect amount of fuel into carb.

I dont know why people suggest vinegar. yea it looks great afterwards, but i put a crankshaft that has some rust or something on it, soaked the arm of a crankshaft in vinegar once, and installed it again, only to have the whole seal leaking arou9nd the crankshaft afterward. also did it once to a car hub, and remembered the other thing after and measured it and it had a pretty noticable difference between it and the other hub I had laying around in the width were the rim sets.
