I’m new to mopeds I just got one about a month ago. It’s a 2015 Tao Tao 50cc I think it’s called a pony? Anyways it only had about 500 miles on it when I got it. Since having it I’ve put in a new battery, air filet, CDI, and fuel filter. Along with other cosmetic items but since I’ve had it it always bogs down for a while after I start it. Every time I hit the throttle a bit, especially from a dead stop, it’ll bog down and take a bit to get going. After I really get going for a bit it runs perfect. I’m just looking for ideas and tips that may fix this issue. In a couple weeks I’m planning on buying a new exhaust cause last night I noticed a little hole in the one I got now. I also read that the contra spring may have something to do with it? I don’t know please help lol

Sounds like the issue is in the carburetor. Your jets could be clogged or it can be as simple as adjusting your air mixture screw. I would start with the adjusting your mixture screw and see if you can get ride of the bog that way.
I would also take the sparkplug out to see what that looks like. It will tell you if your not getting enough fuel or too much fuel by the color.
Those are the things I did to my carburetor. I just go a 50cc maddog in May and have done a number of things to it. They are fun to tinker with and the more you learn about it the easier it will be to figure out the little issues.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

Some carbs have an accelerator pump that squirts fuel into the inlet of the carb when you open the throttle from idle rpm. If that does not work, you will likely feel a stumble or stall when you open the throttle. You will have to use a camera or mirror or remove the carb to see if it is squirting when you operate the throttle. There is usually a flat lever that the throttle moves when it opens, and the lever pushes on the pump shaft to make it squirt. You can bend the arm to make sure it starts to move as the throttle starts to open. If the arm moves but you don't get a squirt, the float bowl may have a clogged tiny port to the pump reservoir. tom
