I some how forgot to put my drive boss in on my 50cc roughhouse scooter... Luckily it's still running but I have lost top end speed and belt not traveling to the outside edge of the variator... Belt seems to wobble especially when decelerating coming down hills .. Also sounds terrible when running and at idle belt also seems to wobble then... What should I replace? Also the 3 v slides on the variator back plate look a little dis figured and one a small piece broke off of it... I still think it's opening all the way though and seems to move correctly out when I push the boss in and out by hand w variator off the bike.. My guess is by not riding on the boss and riding on crank shaft(I think) maybe ruined my belt but that wouldn't explain the terrible sound it makes and the wobble it does right? It seems to be running harder to get up to speed which is 10 mph slower than before... Please help so I don't waste money on what I need to fix the issue... I can't believe I did this and I know I really almost ruined a scooter I just bought by hurrying while putting it back together.

belt should be fine if it looks fine. you probably want to look over everything. Check where the variator were the ramp slides up and down on the little guides in the variator, where the slide guides were at, for any wear on the variator were they slide. If it has any wear, it will continue to dig into that until it breaks through and it would make it hard for it to shift up and down. the clutch, you would have to take the clutch apart, and see if the clutches 2 halves still slide up and down correctly, might want to remove the middle and check if those grooves were they have those pins at for any abnormal wear in their. but the most likely thing that can happen is the 2 pulley halves, the one that comes off from the main part, the seal in the center, if it gets bent too far over, can bust that seal, and cause the clutch to get caught and stuck open. Make sure the variator is spinning smoothly around on the drive boss. Check to see if its cracked and starting to break off the center part were it rides around the drive boss. That thing can break off and come out.
one time I was in a hurry putting a scooter back together and forgot to put the fan on it. Without a CHT gauge I would have burnt that thing up. I looked down and suddenly noticed 420F and got all big eyed and immediately shut it off. Stupid mistakes. Take your time and go slowly when you are working on it.

Like kosmos said you really need to I expect everything. If anything looks damaged or is showing signs of damage I would replace it. You really need to check the crank isn't bent too. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. If you are unsure you can always post pictures up here.

Even a hair is a lot and will cause crazy vibration
