Wondering if I can not use a starter clutch and 2nd gear on my gy6 build, just be kicker only. I know my case half support my crank but what I don't know if it is acting as a spacer and holding onto my crank. Know it has a a castle nut holding the starter clutch on the crank, but is it acting as a spacer or is the case half bearing support keeping my crank in line. Know about the pressed on kicker gear on cvt side.
Wondering if this is essential and something I need to order or can I skip it and just run kicker. My gy6 b cases are empty cases so gathering parts for my build. Almost no information on if the starter clutch is actually acting as a spacer or if the case is holding my crank. Since high compression and electric starter doesn't always get along then I will save the weight on my crank. I always just used the starter gear and never checked if it is a spacer or not. Anyone know??

If you are asking if you can remove the Bendix gear assembly that acts to connect the starter to the gear on the crankshaft... then yes, it can be left on the floor or bench, or tossed to Kingdom Come as you please. It rotates in bushings on the outer case and the engine. It does nothing but connect the starter motor torque to the gear on the end of the flywheel. You could also remove the starter itself if you want to reduce weight. Take out the battery too, as it is only used for starting, but substitute a smaller to provide cluster power for the lights and fuel gauge. Might as well remove the starter relay also, along with large cables. Install smaller ground cables as desired. If using the kick starter, be sure to check all bushings for lubrication. They seem to accumulate neglect more than anything. The kick starter is, IMO, a delicate mechanism that my last, or not, depending on how it is used. I would not try using quick repeated kicks, but more deliberate engage the teeth, then apply good smooth leg power. tom

Qmb uses bendix. Gy6 it is on the crank right side of the crank, if you take right side case off it is just past center line of cases behind the right case half. Guess I will have to wait for my cases and my crank to show up. Guess I can also just split one of my older 150s and find out. Was trying to avoid that since it always makes a mess on the bench 😐
