Hellllo! I’ve bought a few 2002-2008 Yamaha BWS over the years and ended up with some really nice parts so trying to piece together a ripper on a 2006 Yamaha BWS with only 3100 km. I’ve got: - Stage 6 aluminum cylinder kit sport pro compression tested at around 135 PSI - Stage 6 Variator 5g weights with stock front pulley - Stage 6 pro replica pipe
Having issues with max speed and acceleration. All ran fine with the 50cc and stock muffler in after 70cc and sport exhaust the scooter is very sluggish.
Playing with jetting on stock carb and air box isn’t getting very far. So I took the air box off and scooter ran a lot better but still not where it should be. My question is am I wasting my time with the stock carb? I have what I think is a 19-21mm dellorto ( looks identical to the black edition stage6 one). Just need to grab a throttle cable for it. And should I be looking into modding the air box? ( I’ve got the snorkel removed). I’ve run 70cc with stock air box/ pipe with a lot of luck but I’m thinking this one needs a little less restriction. Thanks!

Update: So I made a little gap in the air box. 2 things changed: no more smoke from exhaust ( does that mean I was running rich?) and better acceleration. May just need some stiffer springs. It’s not perfect but much better than it used to be. I’m guessing with the Dellorto carb there are a few more adjustments that can be made just don’t know my plan with the thing yet and if I want to invest anything in it. Update: put a medium stage6 spring on and got slightly better acceleration. It’s better than stock but not sure if it’s good for my setup. Sure got a lot louder though.

If you have the old stage 6 pro replica exhaust. It's very peaky, and needs carefully setting up to work well. I've had one and it's a good exhaust once set up correctly. You will probably find the hard clutch springs work best.

Sure is! This is the pipe from the original scooter. I’ll look into more about power band for the pipe. Also have a Tecnigas pipe which I can’t identify I’ll try out. I bought a throttle cable for what I think is a decent carb or an Amazon knockoff. It’s got a few 90 degree barbs I’m not sure wether to leave them open or ty then together. Here’s the air box with the snorkel out. I see there are aftermarket air boxes with 2 inlet ports I may try to do something like that.

There are some video's out there on how to modify the OEM airbox to give it more unrestricted airflow, while keeping a low-profile look to it. I don't know what the rules and regulations are where you're at, but here they are pretty strict. If you want to, i can dig one up (but it will probably be in French) EDIT: Here it is, i noticed it has english subs (probably auto generated, but still...)

Scooters aren't very popular here in Canada and I've never heard of getting in trouble over this kinda stuff. Maybe if you had a stretched out Honda Ruckus that looked questionable the cops might have an issue, or if it was super loud. I didn't realize going into this how much muffler RPM mattered. I've got an older tecnigas I cant find range on so I'll try that one instead. I've got these parts pretty cheap and don't want to spend too much on it since my end game is to get a pre bug BWsR its just so darn hard to find a decent one. I may ditch the stage6 pipe since blowing the original crank seems to be a real possibility. Learning lots though can't wait for weights, springs and throttle cable to come in to fine tune it!
