i am used to bigger float needles from goldwings , etc. ... the spring-loaded tip can be depressed and will bounce back readily, but is it protruding enough ? in person, it looks like its protruding less than in the pic. i cannot grip it with my fingernails or even with a fine pair of tweezers. does this look ok to you

all right ... going to answer my own question here ... i came across the idea of using nail clippers to grab that tiny tip and i could spin it easily but i couldn't pull it out any further. this tells me that it's probably fine; moving on.
