i am new to rollers/sliders and i need to buy a set for my 1984 aero 50.
partzilla is where i usually shop for bike stuff but it looks like oem rollers are no longer available. where can i get a set ?
from what i hear, for a bit more top end i need to go heavier than stock, but i don't know what weight the stock ones are.
also, is there any advantage to going with sliders ?
thanks, joe

I use sliders in everything from my 49ccs, to my TMAX 500. Prefer them in everything I've tried. Sometimes they change acceleration or speed, but they always last longer for me. They're worth it for me just in the consistency and lack of maintenance/replacement. If you can't find what your stock weights are, get a cheap scale with at least 0.1g resolution and weigh them. If you do that, then you can also stuff weights with aluminum foil and weigh them to keep them all equal. You can jam 1g or sometimes more into weights and save a little money on CVT tuning. This is the scale I bought last time and I've been happy with it. There are less expensive options though. amzn.to/3A4MfLnHere's a video showing the aluminum foil and other methods for modifying rollers/sliders. youtu.be/YkNhqEFeWVQ?si=0daZ5xIS0i59bJtG

thank you for that, 90GT ... i haven't been able to find anything yet to tell me what the stock weights are. that scale is actually surprisingly affordable, but for now, i am going to see if the post office will do me a favour and weigh them for me. i doubt their scale is that sensitive but i think by weighing all 6 at once it will be close enough.
thanks again.

update ... took these rollers into the pharmacist and she kindly weighed them for me (super-accurate scale). looks like they are 13 grams each. i have NO idea what the stock weights are but to me that seems excessive with absolutely nothing to go by i took a wild stab in the dark and ordered a set of 7 gram weights. if they are way too light i can at least use 3 x 7g and 3 x 13g.

another update : having been informed that 13g rollers are stock, and the rollers being in good condition and within spec, i re-installed them and was finally able to take this bike out on a real test ride. results : more sluggish off the line than i would have expected from a 2 stroke, pathetically slow going up a steep hill (around 15mph), reasonable top speed of 35mph on a long, flat stretch. a little more blue smoke out the exhaust than i would have expected but maybe that's normal for a 2 stroke. i weigh 220lbs. gas is fresh, air filter is new, belt measures 14mm which is the spec for a new belt.i tested compression after spraying some wd40 in there to lube the dry cylinder when i first got the bike. compression was 180 psi wet so i imagine that it would show a good enough figure when dry.
thoughts ? suggestions ?
