Hey all... posted something in my build thread but figured I'd ask in this spot too with a very pointed question for those of you with or who have knowledge of Typhoon 50s, I have a 2005 with a stage6 sport pro Mk2 and Polini for race 4 pipe. The header flange seems to come in contact with the swing arm when properly seated and I’m unable to install the pipe without angling it toward the front of the bike. If I do install and tighten things down, I run into exhaust leaks. Is this issue common or have others run into this issue like me? What have folks done to correct it? For now here is a picture of my bike. I will try to add photos of the issue later this evening. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I have never been around that type of scoot, but have done a lot of pipe work for many years.. You say 'swing arm', is that the center stand? Don't see the typical swing arm in that pic. If it is the center stand, remove it! The wonderful Yasuni C16 , C20 & 21 cant be used with a center stand.. If you need to keep the pipe from crashing into it, pipe or 'swing arm' must be modified, pipe will be more difficult (but can be done). Can you provide a pic of where it is making contact?

Yep, sorry for not coming with better info/pics. Here is what I am talking about... The header of the pipe is coming into contact with the swingarm. And yes, it's the swingarm and not the center stand. I wish it was as simple as the center stand LOL! I'm thinking I can either cut a small notch into the area where it is making contact in hopes of using the original one-piece bolt. The other idea I have, if that isn't enough, is to cut it out completely and use two (shorter) bolts on either side. See the following pic for how I would plan on cutting: Lastly, it looks like stage6 makes a reinforced mount that serves this purpose for several Piaggio engine-based scoots. Here is one on Maxiscoot but according to them it fits the Zip, but not the Typhoon. It LOOKS like it may fit, though. Scratch that, the Typhoon uses an offset unlike the Zip, and it won't work with the Typhoon. www.maxiscoot.com/en/product/subframe-stage6-r-t,-reinforced,-piaggio-zip-sp-i-und-ii-66632 They even say: " The reinforced design gets rid of the original engine block mounting pin. This means that any exhaust on the market can be used."

Ahh I see now.. Grinding the outer tube to clear the header is what I'd try first, if it still does'nt clear then cut the tube back and use 2 bolts, Would recommend reinforcing it though and great caution during welding to prevent burning the rubber isolation dampers..

Yep, that’s what I did and I think we’re in business! This is where I ended last night. Only got a chance to test fit with this and it is still very close to touching, but I’m able to tighten the flange down straight and true and it no longer touches. I’m probably going to remove a little more material before piecing everything back together today.

Well, here’s where we ended up. Not too bad and didn’t have to remove the entire thing like I wanted to avoid. It was able to fit straight on with no tilting so I tried it without an exhaust gasket hoping for the best. It held for idle, but that’s about it LOL. Anything above 5k or so and there is a very obvious leak. All out of crush gaskets so I have an order coming tomorrow from scooter tuning with some. Broke down and bought a Polini Evo clutch bell too ha. I also picked up some copper gaskets off amazon so I’ll see how they do too. Might try them first, the other tend to disintegrate into little metal pieces over time.

I had to notch the swing arm like you did on yours to fit my too fast exhaust I actually ended up cutting it it to wear a big section of the bolt was actually visible it took that much to allow it to fit and it's still a type fit but it works.

Good to know I'm not the only one! And, yeah, with my cutting into that I show above, it just BARELY clears. But, I'd rather remove less than more. I was fully planning on cutting the whole thing out and going with two shorter bolts though, if I had to. In doing more research since I made that change, apparently there is a company that sells a mount from Roost, called HK Racing. The price point is steep, but quality seems second to none. www.hkstore.de/index.php?id_product=244&controller=product&id_lang=2

That looks like it's got a lot of strength to it. Then you would need to powder coat of paint it.
